Your first? Wow. I can't even count how many I've been through. :(
On my 6th decade and always lived in Harris county until 2009 when I moved here, barely 100mi from where I grew up. Ike was miserable because we were w/o power for @14 days but 1983's Alicia was the worst. She knocked over a massive Oak cutting the place where I sit at this moment in 1/2.

For years my next door neighbor prodded me to remove my lone remaining Oak which gave me wonderful morning and her afternoon shade. She even offered to split the cost since it almost certainly would fall on her place and I gave in a couple years ago, so that's a stressor we don't have to deal with. Our back door neighbor? His trees can whop both of us! :bomb:

    Gunz are icky.
The eye is FINALLY moving inland. Passing over Sweeney now.
We’re still getting pummeled here in Lake Jackson. Power has been off since about 2:45.
Eye has moved a greater distance in the last hour than the previous six. Hopefully it picks up speed and gets the hell out of here.
I’m dreading what my roof looks like.

Aside from the power outages when will this thing be out of the western Houston metro area? Have to take my daughter there for the state ffa convention. In all her schools wisdom they were supposed to leave out today but they decided it would be “safer” to leave Sunday at noon and stay in a hotel. Needless to say my daughter stayed and I opted to take her there myself. thinking bout heading that way after lunch.

    Cut N Shoot
In the thick of it here in Lake Jackson.
Looks like the eye is just now making landfall at Matagorda.
Stupid hurricane is moving damn slow.
I figured you would have stayed in San Antonio till this one blew over!
I’m sorry to say you might have a long wait to get your power back on, we already have 1.3 million customers out and climbing…

The eye doesn't seem to be moving. The few times I've checked it's still south of 59. We still have power but it's been flickering, turned off all of my electronics.
