100 .223 rounds done. First batch with my new Lyman carbide trimmer and a primer pocket swaging die. Good stuff. So happy I sized and deprimed 100 .38 spl cases.

Produced about 150 .45 acp finished rounds. Trying to use up all my old lead .45 that still have lube on them (casted and lubed before I began powder coating).

Need to go to an outside range with them this weekend as they will be plenty smoky from the lube.

Loaded up 40 rounds of 44mag for a buddy to ladder test this weekend. Hes got a nice little lever gun but was complaining it hurt to shoot. Loaded from 7.8 up to 8.9gr of 231. Shouldnt kick too badly with that load.

I have this feeling ladder test does not mean what you think it means.

Last night i got the 44 mags all flared and primed. Sized and deprimed all my 460 mag and setup the flare and seat dies for it. Waiting on primers for those.

I had it set just to size and deprime at station 1 and flare and station 2... It got all out of whack. I took it apart and put it back together, now its working again. I Think it just needed to be cleaned and tightened...

Although after I put it back together i got about 10 rounds through before I broke my effing bench.....

Long cases like 38 special can get sticky in the dies. Put some cracks in my bench with my Lee 1000.

Shouldn't be stressing a bench that much with 9mm cases.

Ladder, OCW, and shooting groups are three different tests.

Ladder and OCW tests are looking for a "node" where the shots show similar rise. Generally the hits work their way up, level off, and start going back down on the target.

A ladder is shot at 300 yards with one shot each of a 0.10 increase in powder charge. OCW is shot at 100 yards with three rounds loaded in each powder charge and in 0.10 grain increments.

Shooting groups is just that, loading charges in 3 or 5 round sets and seeing which charge shoots the best group.

I shoot groups while testing. It just makes the most sense to me. The other two are advanced testing procedures that I have never tried.

I assume most handgun testing is shooting groups.

No rule on going up .1gr at a time. Most I've seen go up .2-.5, depending on case capacity.

Or just screwing it down in the right spot... Whichever.

Honestly i was probably wrangling the toddler when i did it. That's the only way i can imagine why i screwed up so bad. She likes to come in the garage with me when im loading. She has a little play kitchen out there she will play with for a while, then its just watching me. Or more accurately, getting in the way... But its hard to resist when she looks at me and says "daddy, come wiff you" :-)

I did have to replace the ratchet gear in my pro 1000, but it came with a spare so no issue.

I use a teflon lube. Works well and stays much cleaner than the oil based. (Couldn't find a way to say that in a way that wouldn't end up OOC)
