As out of control as this thread has gotten I think people completely missed the point of lane splitting. When I was working in Yuma, AZ for a defense contractor I rode into California all the time. It was almost impossible not to considering Yuma sits on the state line. In Cali lane splitting is legal and the intent of the law was for motorcycles to idle past traffic in some of the stand still jams. Blazing through slow moving traffic can and will get you a ticket if you get caught.

Funny thing about vehicles trying to cut off motorcycles is we can pop off your side mirror a lot easier than you can catch us.

And what's funnier still is I can read faster than your ass can accelerate. Plus you left the evidence behind.

    Lol.

    Yeah, good luck with that.

You defiantly give riders a good name. Have no idea why some people have so much animosity towards bikers and their stupid antics.

If you have any news about other people who deserve to have a spit cup thrown in their face, please feel free to update us.

    :)

Yep. I made a promise and I fully plan on keeping you guys updated.

I just asked Scott to remove the thread because it had served its purpose and law enforcement is taking it from here. But I fully intend to post a follow up.

It's a roll of the dice. You can pretty much see it in the eyes of the driver if he is going to do something stupid. With experience you can read the sitituation but you still taking a chance. You just gotta remember that nobody is looking out for you.

Has anyone else done it like this?
    Not exactly.
I don't lane split on the Harley.
I never split lanes back when I rode, though I've never ridden a particularly bulky bike. Mom liked full-dress Harleys but, alas, I was a disappointment to her in more ways than one. :)
If I need to go to the right around people sitting in the right lane and not turning- I'm going.
I gotta disagree with that. If I'm sitting at a red light, first in line, in the right lane, and not turning...there's always a chance I might change my mind. When there's the giant sign up there saying not to drive on the shoulder, I have no problems putting on my turn signal and turning when the light goes green. WAY too many times I've nearly been crunched on the right by people who think that "Do not drive on shoulder" sign didn't apply to them.
The most scared if been in a while was sitting at a light and hearing tires squealing behind me.
And this is the one time when I have split lanes. I always stopped on the inside of the lane, far enough back to shoot the gap. If I hear something like that behind me, I'm hitting the throttle, stomping the gear shift, and dumping the clutch all at the same time so I can shoot between the two stopped cars in front of me and let them take the hit instead of me. I only rode in my 20s and only needed to pull that stunt once. Sure enough, the car behind me stopped before it hit anything but if I had stayed still, he would have sent me over the car in front of me.

Seems like a good time for a last second lane change to me.

Or a good opportunity to dump out my spit cup.

I hate lane splitters so When I see them coming I'll close the gap by moving to where they can't get by then get a kick out of all their angry gestures towards me in my mirror.

I agree with the get in line and wait your turn just like everyone else sentiment.

You shouldn't have special road privileges because you're in/on a certain vehicle type.

Of course the DFW area crotch rocket fags tend to weigh heavily on the formation of my opinion of bikers.

Majority of those guys are hyper-steroid aggressive, complete idiots and a danger to themselves (big whoop, doing the world a favor) and worse to everyone else on the roadway.

I've only seen this type of behavior in California.
In Houston that would be incredibly dangerous. Only about a third of us can drive decent in the best of times. :clown:Relying on your fellow drivers to not do something stupid is really not smart.

Do they do this in Austin? Many of the roads are hyper narrow, and side streets are full of really really angry and entitled bicycle riders....

TRANSPORTATION CODE CHAPTER 545. OPERATION AND MOVEMENT OF VEHICLES
Sec. 545.060. DRIVING ON ROADWAY LANED FOR TRAFFIC. (a) An operator on a roadway divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic:
    (1) shall drive as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane; and
    (2) may not move from the lane unless that movement can be made safely.

DPS says that prohibits it, the attorney that taught me TC said otherwise.

If You drive a car, odds are you break laws.

And if you ride, you're def breaking laws, lol

    Vmax, cool bike!

    :peace::peace:

not sure if thats what you meant, but I have Vmax as a screen name because of the Hornady Vmax bullets I shoot.

I don't own a bike, but support your right to 100%

I am of the opinion that my daddy told me. "

Married men with kids to feed don't need to be on a motorcycle"
now that was just my dad's opinion and he was entitled to it.
I have seen too many good guys get their legs crushed or have serious life altering injuries because some jackass didn't see them and pulled out in front of them or accidently cut them off.

On a motorcycle, it don't matter whose fault it was,, your still screwed up or dead just the same.

safe riding to you. (and I mean that seriously)

None of my business, but a very wise decision on your part.
