Loaded 50 or so .40 cal 180 gr cast bullets over 4.7 gr bullseye and about 50 .45 ACP 230 gr fmj over 5.0 gr of bullseye. Also processed about 1/2 lb of black powder pucks. Ended up with about 1/3 lb of powder ready to go.

I had to play personal uber and take one of my daughters to a camp in San Antonio with Saturday pretty much an open do whatever I want day. So... I packed a mobile reloading kit into a big ice chest and loaded about 200 rounds of 357 and 200 rounds of 45 acp.

5gr of bullseye under cast lead is my favorite load for the 1911, although I'm using 200gr cast bullets. Got a bit of a pop, but dead accurate at pistol ranges.

Shot the first batch of sub-sonic reloads for my nephew's suppressed 300 AAC bolt rifle. Speer 168 Spitzer with 5.5 grains of 231. Ran about 1025 average fps and so quiet you could hear the bullet hitting the paper target @ 100 yards. Grouped about 2", gonna have to work on that. A good start on some quiet hog medicine.

I figured out what's wrong with my progressive press yesterday. Don't think I'm gonna fix it just yet though. It annoys me lately...

Had to retest a load after opening a new lot of powder. When the original load was ran it dropped roughly 100fps and accuracy opened to just over moa. Uped charge a bit and think I hit the node. 20170304_151857.jpg20170304_151900.jpg

Is 400 blackout the super top secret spec ops round that airborne ranger seal snipers use!?

    Sent from...wait where am I!?
I reread it a few times trying to figure out what a 400 blackout was! Now I know!

How much time frame from lot to lot?

I have heard many guys say to test a new lot of powder but have never done it myself.

This is also the first time anybody I have any faith in has shown the need to honestly.

With the progressive down and the brass already sized I decided to hand prime last night... A few more than 700 before I ran out of those s&b primers. Sure makes your hands sore after a while. All I have left is mag primers so I'll pickup a couple hundred at academy later today to finish off the bunch.

Around a year. I had bought a 8lb of imr4451 when it first came out and the one I tested was purchased within a few months. I ended up being 50fps slower than I would like but accuracy trumps speed. I've seen some difference in lot to lot of varget but the time frame between lots was several years. Rumor has it some of the availability of powder from hodgdon should get better after some recent import law changes.
