I hate walnut. Too dusty.
I usually run corn cob with minimal brass polish added overnight. They come out like new.
New to the forum and just getting into reloading (have my press, tumbler, etc). Earlier today I picked up a Case Length/Headspace Gauge in .308 and a powder trickler.
I threw a few small cut squares of a microfiber polishing rag in with the corn cob. It really cuts the dust down. Dust doesn't collect on the center post either.
Question.
I've been reloading military cases(Imo, they dent less on the receiver bump thingy). Ive been cutting them down to 1.753.
I have a bunch of Federal cases that measure shorter then the minimum 1.750. So either I pull a bullet and measure an unfired case and guess or ask y'all. Unfired case will still be shorter then 1.750...
Anybody that reloads the Federal eagle cases. What's the max trim length you're using???
OAL with a 55 grain???
1.760
Vaquero. They're shorter then 1.750. You added 10 thousandth.
They have to be trimmed. They're once fired and stretched. No two have the same length. They won't crimp the same. The shorter will get a lighter crimp. Long, more.
Ill have bullets flying all over the target.
Oh.
55 grain what?
FMJ?
FBHP at 2.22
FMJ at 2.20
If your nk tension is correct crimping is not needed. These are cannelure rounds going into a magazine. Can't do bullet setback. Not risking over pressure rounds. One snags on the way up the feed ramp. Gets pushed back...
Nah. I need a minimum case length for Federal Eagle, 223 cases.
