I never knew that was done. I have some reading to do.
check out the castboolits forum. Basically it acts as lube, reduces/eliminates leading (why I do it), and looks cool too. I use a powder coating setup, but most use a butter tub and some air soft bbs!

a small toaster oven, a lb of powder from harbor freight, a pack of air soft bbs, a roll of non stick aluminum foil or parchment paper, and a butter bowl is all you need. takes up about as much space as a 48 qt cooler

That's awesome Fishing! I dig the black/brown mottled color. But entirely too much work for me. Haha. I can get hi-tek epoxy coated 124gr 9mm's for 6 cents each, so that works.

Deteremined OAL with Black Bullets 125's for the new Tanfo Stock 2. Turns out max is 1.09" with this combo, so it'll get loaded at 1.08". Plan to use TiteGroup powder starting at 3.4 and working up to 1050FPS or over if the accuracy comes better at a little faster speed.

Sorted bullets by weight. Three lots: .355, .354, and .353. (.354 was the most common, second is .355, and least common .353.)

The 354's were loaded into dimensionally correct federal cases. 1.49g charge.

not a bad deal at 6 cents! Mine are free minus a bit of electricity and labor and I enjoy doing it. I also have a 40 cal mold and a .308 I use for 30 carbine and 30-30. those get powder coated then gas checked

Neck tension.... Sufficient neck tension will alleviate the need for a crimp.

My only way to judge the tension is how many wacks it takes with a hammer bullet puller. Military takes a good three or four to eject the bullet.

I strive for three decent wacks to pull the bullet out the case. I don't know any other way to measure it.

With a caliper. Take a loaded round and measure around just under the neck bullet junction where the bullet is. .003 or more is sufficient enough.

Got it. Thank You. I was trying to figure out how to measure it.

3 thousandth sounds perfect. Everything else is measured...Besides that. Now it will be.

Hold up. What's my beginning measurement? After case size and before crimp?

.03 smaller then that beginning diameter?

Say I run a case through. Start the bullet. Measure that. Then measure after crimp until it's .03 less in diameter, correct?

Loaded round minus .003. You measure off a round or dummy round with a bullet seated.... That being said 99% of full length dies will be well over the .003"
