The Perfect 1911 Pistol!

Possibly. I haven't had any issues with my current 1911 a RIA 10mm non stainless. I've owned 5 1911s. A Springfield range officer, Colt Delta Elite, Ruger SR1911 and a RIA GI model. Had issues with all except the current RIA.

I wish S&W would offer a 10mm in the E series. I'd pick one up for sure. I think it's a a beautiful pistol and costs less than a grand which is nice. View attachment 238772

Confession - I’ve never owned a 1911 of any type or flavor. Heck, until a few weeks ago, I had never even held one in my hand.

But when I look at a 1911 like the one majormadmax posted, I think to myself “THAT’S what a pistol should look like.”

Sorta like with motorcycles. When I see a HD Knucklehead or Panhead, or a Triumph Bonneville or an old Norton 750 Commando, it just seems to me THAT’S what a motorcycle should look like.

I like all 1911s because they are 1911s! I know of several folks that have bought 1911s and then immediately began changing as much as they could on the gun! And, of course, that is not exclusive to the 1911. Many buyers do that to many different guns.

I'm not sure what is perfect. Would I want a safe queen? I guess, but would that be perfect? All I can say is, my S&W Performance Center Commander .45 has been the perfect carry pistol to me. Not too expensive to worry too much about and goes bang every time I squeeze the trigger.

The serial number on MajorMadMax's 1911 indicates that this gun was made in 1915 at the original Springfield Armory. Colt, SA and Remington UMC were the three makers of 1911s prior to WWI.

IF, you could pick out the 1911 of your choice, or have built the perfect 1911, what would it be? What features, or finish would it have? What would it's primary purpose or intended use be?
