I'll have to handle it myself. I think I heard one pipe burst in the attic as I was waking up but since we had no water pressure there's no water flow to confirm potential damage.

To add insult to injury, a family of raccoons chewed through a soffit and have taken up residence in the attic. I guess I can't blame them for looking for some heat.

Went out at 8 a.m. to break ice up on the water containers and feed the animals, outside thermometer in a protected location show 9 degree F. Sleet/snow overall about 3 inches with drifts at about 10 inches. Even with wool gloves fingers were going numb within about 15 minutes, to cold for extended stay outside. The sun is shining brightly now, should really be cold in tomorrow morning. Luckily no power issues here. Since I will not be working today, I will be canning some kraut! Picked 8 heads of cabbage yesterday ahead of the freeze.

Nope, these are very unusual temps for Texas. Particularly so wide spread and so far south.

One is the loneliest number.......the temp is supposed to improve later.

Still nothing here. Seems to be a widespread problem down 1431. Going on 8 hours now.

Sunshine and clear skies. Warmed up to 11°. So far we've only had the one black out and that was while we slept around 2 am ish. Can not find the source of the loud boom, crash, explosion this morning at 5 am. No trees on the house or anything. Do water heaters explode when they freeze? How can hot water freeze. It's electric, so no gas involved. I'm at a loss.
