Never turned it on. Neither has ever been a great orator, much less a masterdebater.

Besides, whatever the time limit was on answers was too short. The thing was designed as a sound bite fest from the beginning. You can’t share a substantive summary on why your farts smell best in the time given.

What nobody has acknowledged is that the people who organize the debates have eligibility rules to participate.

Federal Election Commission (“FEC”) regulations require a debate sponsor to make its candidate selection decisions on the basis of “pre-established, objective” criteria.

On November 20, 2023, the CPD adopted its 2024 Nonpartisan Candidate Selection Criteria. Under the 2024 Criteria, to receive an invitation to debate, a candidate must: (i) be Constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President of the United States;

By merely getting an invite, team Trump should have worn that shit out by now and put any question of his even appearing on the ballot to bed. Hell, it effectively moots the SCOTUS case.

Otherwise, the only effective answer Trump should have given to just about any policy question was “were you better off in 2019 than you are today, because that’s what this clown show wants to dicker over.

Newsom seems to be the heir apparent. Hopefully my impression his lack of popularity outside the liberal strongholds of California is accurate - I really don't see liberals from places like Pennsylvania voting for him in droves.
