I'm still stuck on the fact that these criteria apply to Merrills with braces.

Those pistols were sold with wrist braces going back to the 1960s (1950s?). Now they're gonna be SBRs?

That is correct. The 4999 is all about the brace, not the pistol. The ATF is trying to say that if it has a brace, it's 99% likely it is an SBR.

I'm more interested in meeting the ATF'er or other LEO who is willing to put their life on the line to enforce this rule. Not everyone is going to go quietly, after all.....

Always been that way. If you win the war you define the history. If you get elected, you can define what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If you control the MSM? If you are talking about Mossberg Shockwaves and Remington Tac-14's, they are not shotguns... Shotguns are intended to be fired from the shoulder.

It's also not an AOW, as that would require an NFA transfer fee of $5.

The way I see it, if you stock a Shockwave, it becomes an SBS, not an AOW. If a brace was interpreted to be a stock as for pistols, a Shockwave would be an SBS.

If you put a pistol grip on a Shockwave, it would become an AOW.

As for whether ATF has addressed braces on "other firearms", I have not seen anything yet.
