“I’m putting that guy in my crosshairs” is not violent rhetoric. “I’ve got him in my crosshairs” can mean you are gonna get someone fired, beat them at a race, or any other variety of doing better of defeating someone.
Hell, I’ve said the same before. This is ridiculous. It’s just an idiom meaning someone is your target. Not that you intend to literally shoot them.
The phrase used was "It's time to put Trump in the crosshairs". That is absolutely incitement, and I can't believe you're working this hard to give Brandon a pass. It would absolutely be seen as permission from POTUS for some unhinged 20 year old leftist who wanted to "make a difference".
