If true, see post 1206. I’ve also said it before in this thread where I talk about the end game outcome of all this mess.

I’ve seen an inexperienced fire officer get overwhelmed as an incident expands, but as long as they can check their ego and accept help it usually works out OK. It looks like Arredondo was in over his head and didn’t want to admit it. Sure, NIMS says you can’t take over command from the IC unwillingly but someone should have pulled him aside (maybe more than one someone) and convinced him to relinquish command. But I’ll bet lots of more senior officers on scene didn’t want to grab on to the tar baby that this had already turned into.I’ve been willing to entertain fog of war as a valid excuse for command fuckups up until today. Now that it is on record that suitable equipment, trained LEOs, and motivated personnel were on scene and challenging the decision to continue with the barricaded suspect tactics. Recognizing the continued threat to life by an unresolved active shooter, the IC should have allowed the tactical responders to execute against the suspect. Let me rephrase; once the tactical lead for the active shooter portion of the incident had the capability to prosecute the threat, his duty was to inform the IC and execute.
That transcripts indicate either responders or the active shooter response lead were deferring to somebody as the IC, probably in good faith but likely not knowing either a) nobody was in charge or b) Arredondo lacked the situational awareness to be the IC. Knowing what I know based on the reported evidence, there was no compelling reason to not execute against the active shooter far earlier in the event timeline. It may not have changed much of the outcome, but it sure would not have lead to the damage that has been done.
I fear the transcripts will end up telling a story of telephone between Arredondo and a bunch of other people repeating what he said.
Concur. The system works well when people exercise it often and in challenging and overwhelmingly stressful scenarios. Too bad most orgs don’t/can’t do that.…. But I’ll bet lots of more senior officers on scene didn’t want to grab on to the tar baby that this had already turned into.
Me, too. I also try to caveat my statements with “if true” or “if the evidence supports”. History is replete with examples where fog of war/scenario confusion is the primary cause for failure and it is indeed rare when somebody can step in and snap victory from the jaws of defeat.….I’ve been trying to withhold judgement but it all looks bad.
Was it staged? Doubtful. Are people really that sinister to allow something like this to happen? I mean, how many mass shootings and bombing actors were on law enforcement and the ABC agencies radar, but yet the act still took place? If @1911'S 4 Me would have made that statement to me 10, 15 years ago, I’d say he was on crack. From what I’ve seen over the past 5-6 years, I 100% agree with his statement. I’m not at all excited for where this country is headed.
This guy would. Even took advantage of it after the fact. Are people really that sinister to allow something like this to happen?
Does anyone know why ISDs have their own police departments?
Why isn’t this the responsibility of the local sheriff or PD?
Is this the case in any states other than Texas?
Is this just so cop wannabes can wear spiffy uniforms?

We have School District marked cars that regularity have cars pulled over issuing citations when they are nowhere near a school or school zone.I was intentionally being a dick one day on my motorcycle, in front of an ISD officer, knowing I was no where near any schools.
He pulled me over and informed me that he could write me a ticket for what I was doing.
He then let me go.
Some school districts reimburse the local PD for full time officers to be stationed at the school. This avoids the district having to set up its own PD.
District cars also like to flaunt there status as LE and haul ass everywhere. We have School District marked cars that regularity have cars pulled over issuing citations when they are nowhere near a school or school zone.

Good! Nobody more deserving.UCISD just put Arredondo on admin leave. Earlier this week he was voted not to get an extended leave of absence by the city council cause he missed 3 consecutive meetings. So he’s considered to have vacated his seat. They are slowly throwing him under the bus and he’s gonna be the fall guy for everyone.
