So are you saying you don't break laws?

Don't be silly. You are the one who has publicly admitted to willfully ignoring laws based on the safety of all on the road, including yourself.

Don't be trying to play games with me, Bubba ... here, or on the road.

I love all these people talking smack about bikes, yet I bet they dont owned one. Things that kill bikers is other drivers. I really dont give a crap if you get pissed off by the way I drive my bike. If I have done things right, You wont be anywhere around me. You may not realize this, but people drive in packs usually with a lot of clear areas in front of the pack. I am going to get into that clear area and if that means going 90 MPH to get there, so be it. Funerals are more expensive than tickets. I wont lane split, but I have no problem going to the front line at red lights if that were legal because it would save me the hassle of blasting around you at 90 to accomplish the same thing.
    You're with OCT, aren't you?

so risking my life riding next to a young girl texting in one hand and putting on makeup with the other is a more noble thing to do? Yea right....

i dont cut in line, but I would if it were legal. My wife and family really dont care what you think.

Your mode of transportation is your choice. Being a douche is your choice.

Douches gonna douche. What can I say.

Was just saying that when youngsters see a parent routinely and intentionally ignore the little laws and rules, like traffic laws, etc, they will follow eventually follow suit, increasing further with each generation.

An increasing lack of integrity and ethical behavior is quite noticeable in the schools today, and has been well documented to have increased with respect to generation.

Breaking a law is not equal to unethical behavior.

Children may learn that not all laws need be followed, but it is more important to teach them to live by a set if principles, and not a set of laws as laws can easily become immoral, unethical, irresponsible, and actually cause harm.

I've done it for years and years in California. It's not only quicker for me but I also ride a Harley which is air cooled and sitting in Austin traffic with 100+ weather sucks for me and my bike. I sit in line like everyone else as is.
I remember when I lived out in LA...WTF, you guys are INSANE and I am a rider. I just think its like playing Russian Roulette...sooner or later you are gonna hit on the cyl that has the bullet.

Saw a lane splitter out in Va. Traffic backup on the Hampton Roads Tunnel S. We had come to a complete stop, been there for a while and I hear and see a sport bike come flying down between the two lanes. He goes past me and gets down a ways when suddenly someone open a car door to get out just as he is going past...he and bike come to a rapid halt. He was not killed, but def banged up, bike bent the car door over to the front fender almost, lady was a basket case, but not hurt.

It just does not seem to make good sense to me...

I can definitely understand why it is done, as I used to ride & know what it's like to sit still in Texas heat with helmet & jacket on.
If traffic is dead stopped, I personally have NO problem with a biker doing it slowly if they are not being a jerk about it.

I don't agree with splitting lanes when traffic is moving at 65mph, though....

Most here aren't bashing lane splitters because its illegal, we are bashing it because it's stupid and reckless. We would still bash it if it was legal.

Breaking a law is not equal to unethical behavior.

But it does speak to the word you left out: "integrity".

    My opinion. YMMV

I agree with your above, but you may have missed the context of the original post: specifically teaching children to take seriously laws/rules that promote "... being able to live in relative peace and security ... with the rest of society".

    in·teg·ri·ty
    inˈtegritē/
    noun
    1.
the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

I don't see how that disagrees with anything I said.

Laws are not equal to moral principal or honesty.

Breaking laws, in many cases, has no effect on "being able to live in relative peace and security.....with the rest of society".

IF I were to manufacture an unregistered suppressor (consequences to steep to do it, but good example) how will I be disrupting the relative peace and security of society? That wouldn't make someone a bad person. It wouldn't make them immoral or dishonest.

Just because the gov says "that's bad" doesn't mean it's really bad. It just means the gov doesn't like it, or has thrown out some blanket regulation that makes no sense for most of society.

    ^ Yup

Instead of thinking the biker is somehow cheating you think of it as a vehicle off the road quicker and out of your way

    :)

But he is not off the road, he is in the center line if it being stupid.

Please note that I was very particular to narrow the context of my remarks to those laws that deal specifically with pubic safety, which do indeed promote "living in relative peace and security".

Just because the gov says "that's bad" doesn't mean it's really bad. It just means the gov doesn't like it, or has thrown out some blanket regulation that makes no sense for most of society.

Laws that deal with public safety, like traffic laws, remains the context.

IOW traffic laws (against running red lights, running stop signs, etc.) indeed speak directly to "living in relative peace and security" and are those laws to which I was specifically referring.

As far as your comments regarding "breaking laws, in many cases ..." I agree entirely with your opinion.

    Why yes, it does.

    Yes, it would.

It makes it unlawful. Morality and ethics requires obeying the laws.
