Professional iPhone repairman here. Got 2 minutes of spare time and a $0.82 screwdriver from eBay? You can change your own iPhone battery.

I meet people at Starbucks all the time. By the time the Crapaccino they ordered is ready, I've usually got the new battery in.

    Hardwired? Negative, sir.

There are lots of great reasons to go with any of the major phones.

Ford or Chevy? Toyota? 9mm or .45? Toilet paper folded or scrunched?

Only thing that matters is if it works for you. Glockster, glad to see you made a choice.

While using the iPhone I REALLY missed Samsung's back button. Now on the S3 I REALLY miss Apple's jump to the top option .... lol.

Dropped the phone @ 12" ---- the screen is toast! :( They better give me a new one

Texas Yankee / Shotgun: appreciate the tips, looking into both

Even though it was your fault, that sucks. Should have been proactive and bought a case for it...

jk man. Hopefully they will fix it for you somehow. If not, there are people that specialize in working on phones. Maybe 35Remington can do it.

I looked at their cases and didn't like any of them. Now the question is do I get the case 1st (which may involve a fair amount of driving) or replace the phone 1st and risk another break before having a case. LoL 1st world problems, eh?

I told you to get an otterbox. I have their commuter one or whatever provides the second to least amount of protection. My phone's been thrown, dropped, etc. And still no cracks yet!

I went Mac 5 years ago and never going back to a PC. That said, I hate the iPhone and will never own one. It's dumbed down for the masses IMHO.

I have the Galaxy 3 and I like it. I have the Otterbox on it and its been dropped plenty of times and it isnt damaged a bit. As far as between it and the Iphone? I had an Iphone, liked it too. Just comes down to personal preference.

About the same with the 3G I was borrowing.
There are several ways around that, mostly in your settings. Mine would drop like a rock over a few hours and then I did some tweaking and solved the issue.

I am an Apple fan, have been since '85 when I bought 25 Macs for my engineering dept, had a Mac on my desk my entire career in the IT business as a HW/SW/Network engineer.
