The issue is not whether a wall will work. Obviously, a 2000 mile hundred foot high wall to a depth of 50 feet with no openings will keep everyone out. The question is whether it is the most efficient and effective way to handle the job or is it just throwing money at a problem because the president made a campaign promise that it would get done. Since the Mexicans are not paying for it, it’s your tax dollars; don’t you care how they are spent?

It wouldn’t need to be that tall or deep. And you are choosing to ignore that it is only a very important piece of a broader solution.

Right now BP is trying to catch the water after it comes in and throw it back out. That is not a solution when a boat is sinking. You MUST stop it slow the leak. The wall slows the leak to a great extent at which point BP is able to catch any drips that make it through, and ICE can continue bailing the water that has been sitting in the hull dragging the ship down.

Do you see how these things work together to form a comprehensive solution? Or do you think it makes more sense to spend more and more money trying to bail water despite the fact that it’s entering at a faster rate than it can be removed? Because that is truly wasteful spending.

Also, it’s a border barrier. A strong fence. That was a compromise made by Trump that the lefties keep ignoring while claiming he refuses to compromise.

And...that's why Texas landowner groups already have the suits prepared.

Which ones? My cousins down on the border would love to have a secure barrier because he is spending tens of thousands of dollars every year on damage caused by illegal immigrants on his ranch.

You may not have seen much about it. They have posted video of damages as well as video of illegal immigrants damaging property on Facebook but Facebook flags and deletes the posts calling them hate speech, even though there is no mention on race, only a description of the damages or events.

Some democrats, from the Valley and elsewhere, say the wall is not needed.

Other folks, from law enforcement to landowners, say it is needed.

The latter have a vested interest. The former have a base to which they pander.

For every farmer or rancher or law enforcement official/officer you can find that supports “the wall”, there is one who thinks it’s a waste of money and not the way to ensure a secure border. That’s why we shouldn’t do policy by anecdote.

    gaines67,

Inasmuch as NOBODY (who has a BRAIN) believes the DIMocRATS & FAR LEFT "mass media" figures on who supports/doesn't support a border wall (OR about most any other policy), HOW would you ever know the TRUTH??

As for me, I believe the police departments & sheriff's departments that LIVE/WORK on the border.

Then policy by the evidence. And the evidence from other nations show that border barriers combined with enforcement are far more effective than trying to enforce borders without a barrier.

The cost of illegal immigration annually is about 6 times higher than the cost of constructing a slatted steel fence the full length of the border. By reducing the flow of immigrants in to the country (as evidence from other nations have shown it as effective when combined with BP) we will be able to start making headway in reducing the number of illegal immigrants currently in the nation and reducing the burden on tax payers caused by them.

However, if you still feel this is not good enough evidence to build a barrier why not compromise. We can build a portion of it and see how it works. Instead of a full 20 billion dollar wall, how about a 5billion dollar section and we can see how it works in that area. Oh wait, we’ve tried to compromise but it gets ignored because some people are unwilling to risk finding out that it would actually work and their “that’s just anecdotal evidence” argument would be gone.

Exactly, you don’t know the true figures. As to lies, there’s plenty to go around.

    gaines67,

TRUE & 99% of the OUTRIGHT LIES are from the DNC, DNCC, the other FAR LEFT groups & from the DIMocRATS-controlled press.

I note that you IGNORED my question to you. = WHAT do YOU KNOW & HOW do you KNOW??
(Are you zincewarrior's "clone" as he always changes the subject, "dodges" or ignores questions that make his BLATHER & BILGE look FOOLISH.)

Why do you feel the need to attack me. I don’t have your identical views (except on firearms). Is this forum only for those in lockstep with the majority views?

    gaines67,

To my knowledge, NOBODY (including me) is "attacking" you. = I just pointed out that you haven't answered my DIRECT/simple question.
(REPUTATION is everything on this site. - Get the reputation as an "evasive poster", who won't answer direct questions & you WILL be ignored & made fun of.)

Would you like a "do over", so that you don'r look evasive/silly?

I know this may shock you, but I don’t answer to you, so if you think I’m silly, you’ll just have to live with it. I think my position is clear on this topic.; you may not like or agree with it, but it is far from evasive. In case you’re still unclear, although I believe in secure borders, I think the wall is a giant waste of money ( though physical barriers in certain areas are warranted ). The President is screwing with 800,000 peoples lives because Mexico is obviously not going to pay for the boondoggle, and he did not have sufficient support in Congress even in his own party, to get his ego project passed.

    gaines67,

ARE you REALLY clueless enough that a border wall is an "ego project" for the POTUS and/or that a wall wouldn't slow illegal emigration & criminal crossing of the border to a manageable problem?
IF you are, you (like the rest of the "walls don't work" morons) will be RIDICULED as CLUELESS FOOLS and/or simply LIARS by the more intelligent & honest members of the USA.

The position of NITWITS like "Nanny" Pelosi, is STUPID, inasmuch as they claim that "walls are immoral" & "don't work", while continuing to live BEHIND a wall. = That position of the DIMocRATS & the FAR LEFT is just STUPID & HYPOCRITICAL.

    Yes, you didn't know that?

Remember this is a firearm site. It's better to discuss and argue about firearms. The only truth there is that friends don't let friends drive Glock...
