Can definatelly tell you were air force. Buttons faded through on breast pocket where you ironed vs cardboard backer to keep from getting those

    Nice find

    Lol.

I never did the creases in BDUs. Always thought it looked kinda funny.

Just put them on the hanger and let'em do their thing.

The new ones you dont have to do anything and even if they are wrinkled to hell if you just wear em they press out.

If you wear em long enough theyre self starching enough to stand on its own but they smell funny.

They tried to get me to starch my BDU's....tried. I'm the same. Toss em in the drier, hang em up immediately after. I'd iron em for special occasions, but stayed away from creases.

Yep, I used to starch then stopped. Ironing was all that was needed for me. Once we went from BDU/DCU to ACU all that stuff went out the door just like boot shining. I noticed an increase in cry babies about the time new privates straight out of AIT showed up at our units too. Could be a coincidence I suppose.

I'd expect that if it's their first deployment. But most of what I saw was after my return from Baghdad doing simple things like motor maintenance PMCS days and the connex inventory. We didn't have any issues within our platoon while deployed or even before deployment but it was almost as if the Army had changed over the course of that year.

As a private I did what I was told and moved on. Once I put my stripes on, I expected the same but started getting cry babies when sending them to details. It wasn't as if I wasn't in there doing with them either. I guess that's the natural course of people these days though.

They gave us ACUs, felt like wearing pajamas. Didn't care for them at first. Liked the desert boots though. Never was much for polishing and it was pretty pointless if you actually did any work.

Applied for ssdi. Apparently i should have applied while i was told to when i was still in because it looks like the approval rate wouldve been in my favor.

    Oh well, we will see.

Had to starch my garrison BDUs when with the 82nd Airborne and boots had to be mirrors. We kept uniforms and boots just for garrison and then uniforms just for field. Can't stand the ACU. The camo pattern is horrible along with the stupid velcro. I was glad I had the DCU while in Iraq. Ready to get the new uniforms!

Guys these days are so lazy when shining jump boots. They use this stuff called leather luster.

Yeah it shines them up nice but you didnt put in any of the hard work.

I never was big on polishing, usually went with whatever was the fasted way to meet the standard.

And yes, I clung to my sham shield, lol.

I completely stripped a pair of jungle boots. Used the leather luster kit. The boots were mirrors. If you wax on top the luster. So it smudges, nobody can tell.

It's not hard work. It's time management.

I also removed my buttons and glued the pockets down. Had the Koreans press them. Took home and popped inside out. Soaked with Rave hair spray #4. Popped right side out and ironed.

    Washington tuck.

Velcro sounds interesting. Exactly where do they use it?

For shining boots when short on time, we'd do a quick buff with polish and a brush and then use liquid floor wax polish. Wipe it on, a little wipe with a dry rag, and instant shine. This was typically just used on the inspection set of boots since those hardly ever got worn.
