Well last night i realized the 40 rounds kept coming off my lee pro1000 because I had the #2 shellplate on instead of the #19.

Thought i seriously screwed something up there.

Got 1000 124 gr 9mm Berrys bullets. Loaded up 100 of them last night for a test run at the family reunion. Load data on 124's is skimpy in my books vs. 115's.

I tumbled then sorted about 200 pieces of military 223 brass, resized, swaged the primer pockets and then tumbled again last night. I'm working from home this week and spent a good chunk of my day yesterday on numbing conference calls so managed to keep calls on mute and got something productive done.

I hadn't seen that Lyman option. A few weeks ago I bought the rcbs military crimp remover and then dug up a long coupling nut out of my toolbox to protect the threads so I could attach to my drill.

The only problem with the orange lyman tool i have is that it leaves a 1/32nd inch 45 degree bevel at the primer pocket opening. It doesn't seem to effect the rounds at all but just doesn't look at pretty.

Pretty? It's a smooth cut bevel. The bevel is cut from the thickest part of the case.

I've looked into the pocket swagger....$$$$. Easy to break parts. I tried cutting the crimps with the cone end of the chamfer tool. It works but you can't repeat the depth of cut between cases. Some primers would go right in. Couple got smashed.

So if you don't get the pocket right could you detonate a primer trying to force it in there?

I suppose if its crimped and you dont ream the crimp off then you could crush one and inadvertently detonate it

Certainly not with the beveled edge I'm complaining about. That's strictly cosmetic.

Yes but you don't need to cut much to get it uncrimped.

If you are paying attention and not just cramming the primer in you can feel something not working properly.

I figured it would be a bit like resizing brass when you can tell the force required doesn't feel right. I primed about 150 of them today without any issues.

    Found the nodes.

Batches were reloaded in 4 groups, 10 rounds each. 55grain Soft point. Weight sorted at .355 grams. 2.20 oal. CCI 450. 100yards. Zero type target. 6-7ish power scope magnify.

    * groups are all ten round. Barrel temperature lasered. Beginning, exposed barrel temp, 125-128. After shot string, 168ish. Barrel let cool to 125 between batches.

First load, 1.43 gram charge. Group: 2.116".

Second load, 1.46 grams charge. Group: 2.296

Here is where it begins to spread open. The barrel hated the third load.

    Third, 1.49gram charge. Group: 3.901"

Fourth load. 1.52 gram charge. Group: 2.509.

The sweet spot is between 1.43grams and 1.46 grams. Somewhere in between is the optimal load for this barrel.

Now the batches will be in lots of 5. .001 gram increase from 1.43 grams up 1.45 gram charge.

I've got to get one of the mini drawer cabinets. I have parts scattered all over. Stuff that takes a week to recognise. Wondering where the hell it came from and off what.

    I feel your pain.

I've never used it. I like to leave the case lube film in the resizer. All the dies get scrubbed out with an Icing nozzle cleaning brush. Hobby Lobby sales them. It'll fit up the powder drop. Clean out the crimp shoulder in the seat die. I spray the brush with oneshot and run it through all the dies between batches.

Here's a picture of it. It's in the cake making section. It's surprisingly hard to tear up. Gasoline won't melt it either. Just the thing to clean all the small holes in a carrier too.
