    Gunz are icky.
Test fired some .44special cast bullet loads.
The bullet is from a new mould I wanted to try. 240grn RN.
Using a non-traditional for cast bullet powder. Power Pistol.
Also used some reclaimed Large Rifle primers from some ammo I disassembled while back.
The lube on them is some new home made stuff I made a few months ago.
It’s really slicky stuff. I think it’s a bit too soft tho. Needs some more paraffin in it.
All rounds fired fine. Peppy load. Smoky.
I’m trying for a moderate loading for use in both handgun and carbine.
If you’ve priced .44Special ammo lately you know why.

The BS prices of loaded rounds and lack of avalibility of my usual components has forced me to become more creative, if I am to enjoy plinking at even near the frequency I became acustomed to.

I scored a couple bags of new 38 special cases. Going to load for the converted 36 cal Army. Going to load 158gr. polymer coated healed .375 and hollow base .365 with same charge of Unique and see with the chrono has to say.

Have you tried Nitro 100 powder? I’m using that in my 45 Colt loads with lead bullets. I’m getting good accuracy.
    No I haven’t.
I’m using the Power Pistol because I have a modest supply.
Sorta kinda been hunting for some Trail Boss.
I have one small jug of it. Seems to be unobtainium these days.
Way back when I shot CAS competition I used Unique but I always hated it as it left a greasy mess on the shootin irons.
I’ve been using the Power Pistol with some copper plated lead bullets with favorable results in both .44 and .45 calibers.

I tried it because I had some once. I loved the loads, so when I ran across a 8 lber, I bought it. Its pretty much all I use in 45 Colt now, but I am guessing it would work great in 44 Special too.

Relatively clean burning, but definitely better than Unique. I have a jug of that but never use it because of how dirty it burns.

Picked up 2 boxes of .43 Spanish brass for the rolling block...I have a bullet mold for the 45-90 I like that has a hollow base. I managed to progressively re -size the bullet down from .459 to .439. Going to try it in the rolling block.

Got a new house… finally got to unpack the “garage” stuff and put aside.
Ended up rearranging the reloading components and get rid of some stuff. (Had way to many shells, kept just the AA’s and Peters).
I’m excited to get the 77gr sierra’s load started for the new LWRC .
I need to remember to post progress.

Bullet on the left drops out at .459
Resized down to .439 to use in the Rolling block in .43 Remington.
My hope is that the hollow base will be accurate.

Tried to find a new mounting location for my Lee turret press and broke the hopper for the powder drop clean off good thing it was empty. So ordered a new one and bought a stand so I can be in the AC.
