Federal taxes are part of why those things cost what they do. Every gallon of gas you buy sends 38 cents or so in federal taxes to the government.

What G O B posted is an old saying/joke from back in the day; possibly you never heard it.

More to point though, there is no longer the safety inherent in being "small time" for several reasons: The capability of AI to find minutia; the rise of the Karens; but mostly the effectiveness of using "small time" patriots to make fear-instilling examples of.

The only real way to NOT pay any federal tax, is to be unemployed or self employed. Any W2 employee is going to have some tax withheld, regardless of how many dependents you claim. They're going to get you thru FICA, social security, medicare, whatever - they're going to get their money. It would require employers to actually stop paying their quarterly taxes for shit to get real and most businesses aren't going to take the risk of bringing down the weight of the feds on them.
