    Ram 1500 eco diesel?
    Any thoughts?

I test drove one before I got my F150. Dodge has come a long way from 10 years ago. The truck rode nice, and the interior is nice as hell. But to get the EcoDiesel you need to get at least a Big Horn edition, then the engine itself is another $4k. Then you have the problem of poor towing capacity. It's only rated at 9200lbs which is pretty pathetic. The only redeeming quality is that it actually is Eco, unlike the Ford EcoBoost. I know some guys are putting a tune on them, picking up 50hp and 100tq and gaining significant mpg.

If you want to be green, sure go for it. But don't get one thinking it will pull a trailer well. Any truck that sees serious duty pulling trailer (even light trailers like 5-7klbs) should be a 3/4ton IMO. Doesn't need to be a diesel, but needs to be a 3/4ton. They are much more durable and reliable and safer than a 1/2ton if it lives with a trailer behind it.

    Thanks.
    I think it's a hell of a nice ride.
Lone star edition is way more loaded than it used to be.
    Decent incentives right now too.

    Congrats!

    Thanks.
My brother has a newer Tundra.
Give me a week or so in the ram.
I'll be honest to you. Just not much seat time right now.
I sure like the smooth quiet ride though. The gmc didn't come close to this.
The rear seat area and all the cargo configurations there look to be perfect for my job.
Probably perfect for range days too.
The rear cabin pretty well sold me on the ram.

Like driving a luxury car on the highway, even with tires @40psi.
Although it is basically a work truck for me, long trips are a pleasure.
Wife's Lexus has more road noise, and a bumpier ride.
I bought used, ended up with the quad cab, with four regular doors nothing dinky about it.

In lieu of no RamBox, installed these, which perfectly suit the way I work.

The quad cab is dinky compared to the crew cab. The back seat is livable, certainly more spacious than the "extended cabs" of 5 years ago. For a work truck, it makes sense since you can get the longer bed without stretching the wheelbase.

And yes, they do ride quieter and smoother than many luxury cars. My F150 rides better than my cousin's brand new Audi A6. I'd be in a Dodge if I could've gotten the same deal as I did on the Ford. I love the Dodge interiors.

Had an '01 1500, it gave up the ghost last month with 287,000+ miles on it. Only repair I had to do was replaced the clutch at 270,000ish miles and the compressor 2 years ago. Blew a main seal, would have been a simple fix if I wasn't 100 miles from the house.

My 2005 dodge 1500 has 270,000 miles on it. The only repairs I have done are radiator, power steering, and AC compressor. If it ever stops running I will probably go with a Tundra.
