Yeah, the hunting shows that have videos of them after shooting are impressive. So to see a grown man next to a huge elk really gives you some perspective.

Remember they are/can be the size of horses.

I've nearly hit lots in AZ and had 2 cows almost run me over while out in the woods on the rim.

We're not talking mature white tail deer sized.

They are impressive up close. Pictures can be deceiving.

I hear ya on that. Some of those elk that would come into the front yard early in the morning made the horses look small in comparison.

Our (domestic look at - look at me's) seem quite tame in comparison...

While in the U.K. (also in the 80's) I saw not a one in Brighton, where I spent most of my time, but once in London, I saw them pop up here and there.

I used to wonder how much time it took to rig up all that theatrical gear, hair and make up...and these were all guys...

It must've taken hours of painstaking effort to get it 'just right'...just to semi-shock the bourgeoisie...who for the most part, dismissed these folk as in: Once you've seen one, for the most part, you've seen them all and anyway, I'm late for the subway (ok, it's the 'tube' in London) and couldn't g.a.s. less if some guy wants to look like the incarnation of some type of what appears to be a satanic cult member.
