I went deer hunting opening day. I probably should gone to hicksville instead. All I saw was a lonely coyote...lol

Hahaa. How long does deer season run, 'til January? You could have been hunting Sunday. We have a great time, hope to see you out there next meet.

Before the Big Booms

Always time for shooting the bull before actually shooting.

Yes, something over there just went "bang".

You know a proper campground is established when the colors are flying.

The 100-yard firing line was well populated.

Folks were on the line all day.

Good to see this crew in attendance. At least one left with, I hope, a slight extra appreciation for old, weird target pistols.

Some folks believe in being prepared.

Especially the ones who go to the trouble to bring their own shade.

Before the Big Booms, part 2


When you're bringing this much hardware, it's nice to know you'll have cover.

There were guns everywhere, even in the grass.

It's funny. I've watched the trap and skeet events at multiple Olympics but I've never seen hardware quite like that for busting clays.

It was nice to see that .50 finally get a workout.

Apparently, though, a stylish wig isn't quite enough ear protection.

Naturally we needed an organizer.

Somebody needed to tell us to stand there and get our picture taken. (And hand out much-deserved kudos, too.)

Find yourself - stage right.

The young and healthy tended to clamber high.

And the reticent hung to the rear.

Group Picture, Part 2

Scott's Dad took the official photos.

Then he handed off the camera and joined the group.

Flags and grill. Too bad there wasn't enough of the grill left to put in a teacup at the end of the day.

Congrats, Chuck, on lifting that .50 over your head. I couldn't do that.

Of course, the more intelligent among us hung back and watched, keeping a safe distance from the mob.

Time for the obligatory "That'll buff right out!"

I really don't think that motor can be salvaged...if it's still under there.

Good shooting, Curtis. Thanks for the car, the trailer, the work...everything.

The last two blasts left some deep holes.

And I mean deeeeeep!

From the rear, it's hardly recognizable as (at one time) a car, is it?

Is there a more wholesome family outing than blowing stuff up?

The Clean Up

Folks spread out, gathered up the small bits, and tossed them into the chassis. Many hands make light work. Heck, I even bent over once or twice.

Note that those front tires are where the holes were already filled in. Soft ground, eh?

The wreckage was teased onto the trailer expertly, bit by bit.

Then a bit more. It's almost like you guys have done this before.

Naturally, you had all the hands-on help you could possibly need.

Summary - I can't imagine a better way to spend a day and meet great people; the shooting was just an excuse to show up. I left with all my joints screaming in pain...and a giant smile on my face and in my heart. Thanks to everyone for a great, great time.
