Got the front all put together today. The smudge in the corner is intentional (gotta cover the registration number, seems to be the cool thing to do on the net). Guess I didn't cover it very well. Got it now though. Thanks SJ.

I haven't decided what to do with the number plates yet. I may just leave them.

This is the stuff I am fighting. It is mainly on the bed and the tailgate was horrible. I will never get it all but everything the casual observer can see is gone.

My local Walmart ran out of black camo paint so I grabbed flat black regular paint. They are definitely not the same even though they are both Rustoleum 2x. The camo paint says it is super flat and they are night and day different. The black camo paint has no shine at all.

Just something to note if you ever want to paint something with a really super flat finish.

The Behr paint I am using has no shine to it either.

The picture was taken with the flash on.

That's good to know. I use flat black religiously.
I do too. The last set of rims I did had some shine but I also coated them in flat clear to protect them. I figured the shine came from that.

I haven't clear coated any of the paint on the truck though, and don't plan to. The Behr is tough stuff and the color really flattens out once it cures. Both are easy to touch up too.

You can't go with shine on a tactical truck! That'd be like.....like making a tactical truck shiny!

My Classic Car showed an old dodge. It had a v4, 4cylinder cummins
diesel. The guy had PPG mix the same olive drape color in gloss. It was really sharp. Not something you'd drag through the trees but the gloss didn't look bad at all.

Gloss paint requires a whole nother level of prep work to look good. I am guessing the guys that paint these trucks with gloss aren't prepping it completely and having poor results.

Many guys just pressure wash them and spray flat paint. They look decent enough.

I do know a guy that sand blasted his deuce to bare metal. Years later he is still finding sand.

I thought the paint they use is some kinda radar scattering stuff? Really hard to come across?

I was an MP so all I know is the smell of a ticket book and brazzards.

I painted a 69' blazer in flat latex. Looked badass but was a huge...Bad choose of paint.

I am not sure of all the benefits of the CARC paint they use. I do know it is super unhealthy to breathe in the dust though. I have heard of a few shops that won't dry sand the trucks because of the dust from the CARC.

You can buy CARC but it is expensive and not readily available. It even comes in spray cans for touch up. There are just so many better paint options available that most people don't bother.

I can see the rough finish and flat paint helping with radar but I don't think it is actually made to absorb it. I could be wrong though. I just can't see a truck like mine defeating radar no matter what the paint was. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket though so maybe................. It could also be the fact that it can't speed.
