    STFU about 9/11

I'm frikkin sick of hearing about it. Get over it people (this is mainly directed at the media and profiteers). Let's move on America.

I know it was a bad deal. I know we lost lives. I know we should always remember them... but It was ten years ago! Let's move our country forward instead of living in the past.

We have lost thousands of lives needlessly in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting a fake war for people who don't want us there and against an "enemy" that will never be converted at any cost...

Where is the daily bleeding heart media story about the troops that Washington has had killed since 9/11?

    I'm disgusted.

All this amounts to is a media feeding frenzy. They make tons of $$$ exploiting the story over and over and over and we are all supposed to fall in to the garbage they feed us or we are not patriotic... BULLSHIT.

I gotta admit I agree, it was a tragic event but all this media coverage is more for their own ratings than to actually honor those who were lost on that day and in fighting terrorism since!).

    Cheers! M2

I feel for the poor souls who lost loved ones. It was tragic. I am not cutting them at all. I would image most of them would like it to go away as well rather than being reminded at every turn. There comes a time where you pick up the pieces and move on.

I just can't take being exploited year after year by the despicable media we have in this country.

Kinda like Christmas for me. An event that has been whored out to make money by others.

May I suggest what I do on Christmas? Take it and personalize it then serve others somehow.

Fly a flag and remember how great this country is despite the attacks it's under. Remember freedom isn't easily won or kept and has many enemies external and internal.

Lot's of fires here in TX and our first responders could use some help. Let's put some time and\or $$ to their cause on a day we remember and others can't make us forget.

3000+ people lost their lives on that day - it has changed how we live our life for a long time to come - and i dont think there's anything wrong with honoring those people by taking time out of our life to remember them and the events of that day

Uh oh. The firefighters are gonna come kick your dog. I'm sick of memorial and remembrances for acts of terrorism of every type.

Until a few years ago, there was no mention of the UT tower shootings anywhere on campus. I think the memorials only encourage the idiots.

Mixed emotions....over-hyped, yeah - beyond a shadow of a doubt. That it was "10 years ago, get over it" - no way in hell.

I now better appreciate the strong anti-nazi and imperialist japanese sentiments of my fathers' generation. I will go to my grave hating the asshats and those associated with them that performed this dastardly deed. I don't hold all Muslims responsible - I know better - but you can damned well bet your last dollar that anyone associated or sympathizing with their acts are nothing more than cannon fodder in my book.

And as to the "fake war", etc - we can fight it here or there - your choice - because only by going after their networks can we ever hope to shut 'em down. If that means hunting 'em down one by one....then so be it. Send 'em all to their Allah....with a pig under each arm.

What really needs to be known is that the first responders insurance companies aren't covering them for cancer. These men and women ,well ,we know what they did they should be taken care of.

I'm surprised they aren't tying in reminders of the man who was single-handedly responsible for killing Bin Laden.

    I am with you.

But, the sentiment runs along the lines I anticipated it would.

Its hard for me to be totally jaded. I thought I lost my brother that day. He ended up safe and it was a crazy week trying to get him home, but he was unscathed. So I think it would be hard for me to say it shouldn't be a special day. Hard not to be sad about all the lives that were lost and continue to be lost as a direct result of that terrible day. Hard for me not to feel selfish and celebrate the fact that my brother is alive.

I wish all the media hype would unite us all again like we were right after, but it won't.

Many reasons to be sad. Many reasons to celebrate.

Even with all the hype and commercialism, Christmas is still a special time of year to me.

Zembonez, if the media coverage bothers you, might I suggest you switch to another channel or turn it off. But to use the phrase "get over it people" is very, very bad form. I hope you didn't mean it. CAIR is also telling Americans to "get over it." No, we will not just "get over it." It is appropriate to remember 9/11, to honor the dead, to honor those fighting for us now, and to NEVER forget it.

Agreed. Definitely not the best choice of words and at first I was a little hot-tempered about it, but I think I understand what he was saying. The media jumps on every potential controversial subject they can and whores it out to oblivion. Just look at what they do with every single bullshit situation, such as some personal issue a movie star is dealing with. I think we definitely need to observe 9/11 and do NOT need to forget about it. We just don't need the media whoring themselves out over it and trying to play to our fears.

As for the war, all I will say is we should never allow politicians to influence military leadership. Political correctness be damned. If you're going to war, you go to war, you F'in destroy the enemy, and then come home. You don't beat around the bush, you don't worry about hurting people's feelings. It's war, it's brutal, it's uncivilized, get over it politicians! There's no reason it should have taken this long. I would love to see a modern day example made Black Jack Pershing style. One word. RUTHLESS. Make your enemy fear even the mention of you.

Last thing I will say about the media...well actually I'll let Bill Hicks say it since he got it perfect:

Re: Is anybody else sick of all of the 9/11 garbage?

WOW! This is the day that changed my life FOREVER and I will never get over it or forget. I have lost 17 of my brothers because of what these coward pieces of shit did on 9/11. None of them would want their deaths to be called needless. Those who cannot or will not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Forget it? Never. This is a history lesson that Americans are all too soon forgetting until we get bit in the ass again.

I will never forget what history has taught me about the Greatest Generation. I will teach my kids about Pearl Harbor, D-Day, the Pacific Campaign, John Basilone, Fat Man and Little Boy. I will teach them the history of the time in-between with Korea and Vietnam and the Cold War. I will explain to them the anger and fear that ran through my veins on the morning of 9/11 and how that I decided to fight the people who did this, not with words, but with guns, blood, sweat, and tears. I still have that feeling in me as I type. I was injured in this war, not once, but twice. I will never regret that. It angers and saddens me that America wants to forget; we would rather lay down and die than remember. It is racist and bigoted to remember the people who did this and want to hold them accountable?!?!

I agree that it is time to come home. This war has been fought for too damn long in the media and in DC. If they would have let us do the bloody, messy, dirty job that war is, it would have been over years ago. I want to say thank you to every cop, fireman, emergency responder, Marine, Soldier, Airman, Sailor, Coast Guardsman, and contractor that has been there from day 1 til now. Thank you for your service. I will never forget!

I will never "forget" or "get over it". I agree the media and politicians have gone to great lengths to sensationalize this event, but hate them. See through their shit. But the innocent people who lost their lives, the soldiers who have died, and the scumbugs who did this- I will never forget.

Re: Is anybody else sick of all of the 9/11 garbage?

I agree that the media is exploiting this for ratings and $$$. It makes me sick. The big 9/11 services at Ground Zero will be clergy free and there is no room for firemen and policemen unless they are working crowd control. That excludes just about all of the first responders to the twin towers. I also think the "other" first responders have been forgotten. The passengers on Flt 93 realized what was happening and took matters into their own hands to stop further terrorist attacks. I think the TSA is unnecessary now that the passengers know what is at stake. All of this groping and naked pictures are an expensive waste of our time.
