Hey man, if you're going to talk about SHTF scenarios, you have to include even the most far out ones

BTW, I think an EMP in the form of an attack is EXTREMELY unlikely. Our enemies don't really have that capability. It is possible from a massive solar storm however. Something similar has happened before: Solar storm of 1859

Okay, Like a pinch, in the movie "Oceans Eleven"

Gotta make a Target run,may as well stock up on some aluminum foil.

j/k - I suppose anythings possible, like finding a job in this fuc_ed up economy.

Just bought 2 SureFire G-3s w/ batteries from Midway for $29.99 each.

They also had an aluminum model, don't remember which one, for $49.99.

Thought this was cool G3 X-ray.

Ok, after going back and forward about this I've ordered everything.
    Here's the damage with shipping:
1x Hugsby S3 flashlight with shotgun mount :$22.00
    1x Cree XP-G R5 5-Mode 320-Lumen White Light LED Drop-in Module (26.5mm*29.3mm/18V Max) :$11.50
3x TrustFire Primary CR123A Batteries (2-Pack) (Six Batteries Total) :$7.23

    Total: $40.73

Honestly I'm also going to order a Solar Force L2T body as well and try it out for $18.99 and I think that may be a better configuration.
The Drop-in Module will work with it as well.

    I'll post a review.

Yes, I suppose you could make a nested Faraday cage with aluminum foil

I'm hoping a structure built to TEMPEST standards would shield from an EMP as well because I plan to build my next house that way. Call me paranoid all you want, but I used to work with this shit and I know what I'm capable of... Wait, what?

I'm curious to know if anyone has fired their shotgun with these lights mounted and how the light fared. Does it still function?

Got my drop in and all I can say is that they're amazingly bright. The hugsby body is collecting dust though because it doesn't take the LiPo batteries, It's not thick enough and 3x123a batteries isn't as common as 2x. I'm using the SolarForce body and two dropins from dealextreme.

    I
[/URL] like the XP-G R5 for the throw, really spot lighty and can light up far away objects with a tight beam.

The XML T6 is nice for the flood of light, is a bit brighter and has a more natural white light. The last mode memory is also nice.

    What batteries are you getting?

Which do you recommend? I'd preferably like to run the 18650. I'm not brand loyal, I usually shop for value. But if there is any battery has a distinct advantage, let me know. Since I saved so much money on the hardware, I am down to listen to all suggestions for batteries.
