I love it. Why the Springfield armory ILS mainspring housing though?

The original was a POS.....this one was laying in a drawer....I polished it and reblued it...it was black...I reblued all the small parts......not perfect, but I am comfortable with it...

Ok who am I kidding? That Commander is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe one of the nicest ones I've ever seen. Seriously.

Quoted because it already disappeared to the previous page and I just can't allow that.

Thanks for the nice comments......I've finished indexing the grip screws today and will try and get them reblued tonight after hours...I like the look of original indexed screws with a nice blue finish.........the trigger will be last....

Looky what I just bought for $485 before tax on impulse. I'm the second owner, if you don't count the gun store, after the cop who carried this who sold this to the gun store.

66-2, I'll take better pics in better light later.

Chip in the trigger guard, rear sight has some pitting from being carried a lot, and some minor surface rust blemishes in some spots, but otherwise great. Locks up just fine.

66-2 with a 2.5" barrel. No M stamp anywhere if that's a thing. Gonna clean it up in a few.

I believe so. They talked to the employee who bought it from him for the store, and they said he said it was his duty gun. I wouldn't doubt it was carried heavily but shot scarcely, based off of the wear on the rear part of the rear sight assembly that i imagine was more exposed to the elements while in a holster.

Best part is that the sideplate screws don't seem to be too molested. If the guy did open it up ever, he definitely used the right flathead bits most of the time, and even if he didn't, he didn't do it often.

I've seen way worse mangled up sideplate screws. This thing needs some TLC. I wonder if anyone can repair the chip on the trigger guard in the future when I have money to spend. May try to procure another rear sight assembly too.
