Latest 1911 built by Justin McMillan at Hill Country Handguns. It's not just a showpiece; it'll group into less than 1.5" from a machine rest at 50 yards.

Bought a Model 66-2 a few weeks ago from Top Gun in Houston. When I finally ended up shooting it I discovered it had an out of time cylinder. Didn't think they would help me out since it was a used gun and most shops don't take refunds, but I called them anyway just so I couldn't say I didn't try.

I was promptly transferred to the General Manager who proceeded to let me know he'd take care of the situation and make it right. He offered me refund credit or trade for another gun, and notified me that they got a Model 10-5 in that they bought from a regular customer who owns some dealerships around Houston under his name. Better yet, this model 10 was $55 cheaper than the 66-2 was.

They took back the 66 and gave me the 10 and $59 of store credit that I used on some electronic ear pro that I'd been meaning to buy for years now. This model 10-5 locks up like a bank vault and hardly has a turn line. I don't think it was shot often at all. There are maybe one or two minor wear marks on the cylinder that I could see, but the rest of the gun is in amazing condition.

Its a pre lock, has a pinned barrel, and the case hardening on the hammer and trigger is well done and noticeable. Put about 38 rounds down the pipe and it shoots wonderfully. I'm in love with this gun.

Thanks to Top Gun's amazing customer service, my friend who also bought a gun from there the day I got the 66-2 ended up spending another $800 with them today in the form of a kel Tec sub 2000 and a Mossberg 500. Win-win for everyone involved.

    Nice, but I thought the 66 was a .357, and the 10 a .38.

ETA: My memory failed me, the mod 66 was at one time a .38, I even have had one for 40 years, which makes it that much worse, lol .

ETA-2: Memory failed me again, it's a model 60 stainless snubby (in .38) I have, doooh.

    Haha it's all good, you're old a.f.

Yeah the Model 66 Combat Magnum is the stainless version of the Model 19 Combat Magnum. Although I'd love to have a pre-lock K frame 357 Magnum like the 66 was, I grew a fond appreciation of model 10's after shooting one of RobertC's. It's nice to finally own a blued, pinned barrel, and pre lock S&W.
