Building a sub out of junk is just a bad idea...now Andy Griffith had it right.

There's no way those people are still alive. Even if they survived for a while, they are gonners by now. So, the dipshit CEO is directly responsible for creating a situation that took the lives of all aboard, but I'm curious about the total cost of this search/rescue mission. The CEO is responsible for causing that expense too. Multiple agencies, multiple governments. It ain't cheap to run that kind of operation. At what point do they just throw up their hands and say screw it, the ocean is too damn big.

Building a sub out of junk is just a bad idea.

Not just junk, but bad idea after bad idea. Using carbon fiber, surface mated (glued) to titanium, another material of vastly differing compression stress. Using aviation and aerospace technology (where leaking crafts are not unusual) instead of expert "50 year old white guys" submarine tech. Avoiding independent analysis and inspections by industry experts. Subpar communications and tracking tech. Safety protocols and redundancy non-existent. Etc. Etc.

The CEO had the approach and the arrogance of some young, green, little startup company in Silicon Valley. What a waste of lives.

Apparently the CEO had a history of donating to GOP candidates. Funny considering his statements.

Not funny is how we know. Ofcourse the article was insinuating he had it coming.

The U.S. Coast Guard says an underwater vessel has located a debris field near the Titanic in the search for a missing submersible with five people aboard, a potential breakthrough in an increasingly urgent around-the-clock effort.

The Coast Guard’s post on Twitter gave no details, such as whether officials believe the debris is connected to the Titan, which was on an expedition to view the wreckage of the Titanic. The search passed the critical 96-hour mark Thursday morning when breathable air could have run out.

The wife called for me to see what was on the TV. It was showing the Titan on the bottom of the ocean. They only showed the front 1/3 and it was intact. Don't know about the rest of it.
