Democratic means "rule of the people" loosely translated, and it is subjugated into a direct democracy which is a majority voting system, and a representative democracy which is most similar to what we have today.

A Republic is essentially a style of government where the people are a majority or significant power base in the rule of the land. You can have a Socialist Republic, Communist Republic, Democratic Republic, etc. Ultimately it is estranged from the dictation of a supreme power, either via a church oligarchy, royal monarchy, or a dictator of sorts. For example, Cuba is not a Republic.

Democracy has no title of standing in this country. All of the states are a Republic of -------, the country is the Republic of the States United!!

You really should have paid attention in civics classes...

A Democratic Republic is form of government in which a constitution is followed and the citizens delegate authority to elect their leaders and representatives.

Pretty accurate description of our form of government. This was taught in high school decades ago when I went, is still taught in elementary and secondary school today, and used to be taught in required courses for any college degree here in Texas...I cannot see how you missed it...unless you were skipping class and hiding out smoking in the head.

Man I know exactly what your talkin about, beleive me.
I'll get right to the point. Domocracy is not law in this country.
The Republic got started with a letter, the Declaration of Independence. Nothing in it mentions Democrarcy
Each State is formed as a Republic and has individual Constitutions. None of which mention Democracy
We live in the Republic Of The United States of American. The Republic has the law of the land know as the Constitution of the United States, it is the law. In the U.S. Constitution, no mentioning of Democracy.
Even thow we have the electorial process of a Democracy, " Majority Rules", the Republic still hold the law of the land. The law that continues to be ignored!
I have to comment on Skeeter post. Read it and you'll get a clear idea of where im going with this.

Good Lord, a man from California done got me started!!!

I've been arguing this point my whole life. I want voting rights to change!! If your a government dependent bumb, then you shouldnt get to vote. If your not a home owner or own property , you shouldnt get ot vote. Having something to loose is more important than having an opinoin!!
Military personels vote should count twice, active personel should be counted 4 times.
People with dependants should have a vote count consisting of that many dependants. Unless you feed them with Welfare, then your vote doesnt matter!!​
