I know some here will fail to believe me, but I personally think the extremist on both sides need to take a chill pill and let the level headed types (are there any?) take over and show how true bi-partisanship works.

There are just too many folks beyond our borders that want us to fail, and we all just seem to be feeding the fire to make it happen.

September 19, 2008...Bush administration announces bailout plan to confront growing financial crisis. Republican Congress rubber-stamps the administration's demand for new powers to execute a plan that eventually cost taxpayers billions to buy toxic debt and bad mortgages.

January 22, 2009...Republicans blame Obama and Democrat Congress for their own failures and lack of leadership and begin obstructionist agenda.

The only way to get on top of this and return to a democratic republic is to eliminate the electoral process domination by the two main political parties and force an end to the all-or-none way electoral votes are cast. The electoral votes need to represent the popular vote percentages in the states so that a true independent actually stands a chance of winning.

Actually he is quite correct. We are supposed to be a federated Republic that elects some of it's representatives, along with the head of government by democratic ideals, and some by the States themselves.

I can see appropriating the Electoral College proportionately, ( one or two states do that, I believe ) but I certainly do not want the large centers of population determining the course of this country for generations to come.

Watch as Nancy Pelosi shreds the Constitution and pushes out legislation without Congress even reading it. See Sheila Jackson Lee asking NASA when they are going to retrieve the flag Neil Armstrong planted on MARS! Don't they make you proud? C'mon, a big group hug for the whole bunch!

Democratic means "rule of the people" loosely translated, and it is subjugated into a direct democracy which is a majority voting system, and a representative democracy which is most similar to what we have today.

A Republic is essentially a style of government where the people are a majority or significant power base in the rule of the land. You can have a Socialist Republic, Communist Republic, Democratic Republic, etc. Ultimately it is estranged from the dictation of a supreme power, either via a church oligarchy, royal monarchy, or a dictator of sorts. For example, Cuba is not a Republic.

I haven't looked into the individual causality of the "all or none" movement in the electoral college, but I can say with absolute resolve that it is rather lacking. It would be a more finite dictation if we allowed individual ballots on behalf of the electorates.

Are you suggesting that only folks who think like you can be pro-gun? Do you think that the Dems are out to take our guns? Are you not aware that just as many Republicans are trying to push that agenda as there are Dems? Are you just totally out of touch or are you just that naive?

Would you be bitching if it was a Christian center being planned to be built near Ground Zero, or is it just that you are intolerant of other religions? Are you even aware of how far away from Ground Zero this proposed Muslim religious center is? You say you want the government to stop over-regulating and let the people decide, but then you want them to regulate where a religious group can build, and regulate what can and cannot be built on private land, and deny equal rights to those who just don't agree with you.
