I know that sauce. From my former part of the world... Worcester.

And then there is Pedernales with the “r“ after the ”d” — NOT before the ”d”!Why the F do the Brits pronounce it "Wooster", anyway? Do they not see the R, C, and E?

You-ston
I remember being taught how to pronounce it in the first grade.
Pronouncing the silent “H” would have you cursed by our teacher, Ms. Sinclair, for being a Yankee Carpetbagger!
I grew up and went to school in Houston.Must be an East Texas thing or something. I've always heard it as "HYOO-st'n".

Either that, or Ms. Sinclair was right!Central Texas apparently has other ideas on how it's pronounced.
You folks say it wrong. LOL

LOL!
I remember the same joke about Mexia....one dude thought it was MEX-EE-AH and the other the correct MUH-HEY-AH. Rumor was Anna Nicole Smith was the DQ employee in Mexia where she lived in her teenage years.Always reminds me of the joke about the couple that was traveling through East Texas and they stopped in Nacogdoches to get something to eat. When the waitress brought the food, the lady asked her, "How do you pronounce the name of this place? Say it slowly, please." The waitress answered, "It's pronounced "Day-eerie Queen".
True story. My sis and BIL live there.Rio Vista is RYO Vista, not REEO Vista.....at least according to the locals.
Rio Vista is RY-OH Vista, not REE-OH Vista.....at least according to the locals.
That makes zero sense, given the spelling.
You wouldn't understand it's a Texas thing. Kind of like how a soda water is a Coke or a shopping cart is a buggy.
It's just how we talk down here.
