Cleburne - Klee burn? Clay burn? Kleb bern?

    Elgin - L gin(like the booze)? Lgin(rhymes with kin)?

Manchaca - Mon shah kah? Man shack?

Palestine- palace steen? Palace stein? Puh less ten?

Rosharon - row shaw ron? Row share in?

Manchaca is pronounced "Man Shack". Even the ESL kids I went to high school called it that.

Also, Buda is not "Buddha", it's "BYOO-duh".

    Palestine: "Palace-teen".

    Burnet? "Burn it".

    Not bad.
Since I was a displaced Texan, I called it POO-Y'all-Up and it usually made the locals laugh.
Mom grew up in Ellensburg and said it Poo-YALL-ip.
Before I became a born again Texan, I was born in Seattle, Wa. and lived on both sides of the Cascades.

But yeah, because of the paper mills in Puyallup, I used call it P U Allup.

    Do you mean Menchaca

No. There is no town near Austin named "Menchaca", nor named after anyone named Menchaca. The town is Manchaca, and it's an anglicization of an Indian word. The confusion comes in because the Menchaca family lives there, and the local elementary school is named for one of their ancestors. So kids go to Menchaca Elementary School...in Manchaca, TX.
