    Helotes!

Sorry, one example of an idiot who "gangsta carries" with no SA does not make OC wrong.

Show me some real evidence which supports the claim those who OC are at greater risk than those who CC.

I'll save you some time, it doesn't exist! Trust me, I've been asking for it for some time, and to date no one has ever been able to produce any!

It's myth, misconceptions, fallacies, old wives' tales, fiction, fantasy, fabrication, falsehoods, tall tales, fairy tales, cock and bull, inventions, fibs. Whatever you want to call it, it's simply not the truth!

Same goes for the claim OC will increase violence, which hasn't happen over the past 2+ years it's been legal in Texas.

In fact, as someone who regularly open carries, I can attest the vast majority of people don't notice or even care! This is Texas after all!

As for Noir's opinion on this, he makes a several good points especially on maintaining SA; but possibly scaring a Karen should be no reason to not OC!

You lack experience. It's hard to pull a weapon from your pockets when you are trying to move. It's harder to pull from your waistband than you think, too, when you are trying to evade a dog. I've run multiple scenarios and come to the conclusion that skill is not an end-all. A holster is MUCH much easier to work with. Set yourself up for success.

Keep telling yourself all that, though. I don't care.

One thing I learned from my recent 16 years back in Academia is that our Universities are crammed full of “Experts” who have ZERO actual experience in their “areas of expertise”.

But they “teach” and heavily influence our young.

Ayoob is a very inteligent and educated man. He is also a opinionated, pompous and arrogant fudd.
His classes and teachings are a good place to start, like many other teachers. But not definitave. What ever contengencies you think you have planned and trained for, you missed some. I promise.
Both CC and OC have advantages at times as well as drawbacks. Anyone that thinks either is the ultimate way to carry at all times better go back and rethink the problem. Only the situation will determine which is right or wrong. Dieing is the wrong time to find out how wrong you are either way.
There is more than one way to skin a cat and still do it right.

the quickness of open carry over concealed carry is marginal at best.
True, however gun fights are often won and lost by the margins.

There are times and places for both oc an cc anyone arguing otherwise is daft.

Convenience, concealment, comfort, accessibility personal preference, it goes into my gun choice and carry style. Except at work, I'm probably not going somewhere where the need for fractions of a second will be important so for me its a G43 aiwb (leaves room for my massiver than fireinthewire's appendage). Its enough gun and easy access for my needs. I'll open carry my rds G17 on my battle belt where ever I need if I have it on and not think a second thought about it too.

Just wondering: How many of those here actually practice “drawing” any longer ?

Way back when I was younger, “quick draw” was very popular, but there were many accidents, so the popularity waned.

I never did quick-draw, but did develop a consistent habit of “hand to still- concealed pistol” whenever anything seems even slightly out-of-kilter.

So far a stern “Don’t make me draw my weapon!” has been sufficient for my encounters.

    Please comment.
