How much is knowing that what is written on the label is actually in the product? How much is knowing that some shitbag company isn't dumping its waste into your drinking supply? How much is knowing that if the bad guys show up on our shores we will have a decisive response? How about knowing if you need emergency surgery, we'll take care of it, even if you can't afford the million dollars right now?

Awesome! It's interesting to see what happens when you pull the pin on the moral hand grenade and drop it in a room full of people.

If people want these things, then why does the money for it have to be taken by force?

The "roads" part of this standard response is actually an interesting one if you examine it in detail. Supposedly roads are paid for with fuel taxes and the enforcement of "safety" is paid for by fines from the people who break the rules. The gas tax is a use tax... You use the road by driving your vehicle; you pay for it through the fuel taxes. It's much more voluntary and is probably the only moral way to levy a tax. All those cyclists and EV drivers are dirty freeloaders, tho
