    Somewhere here nor there....
I believe that those who contribute are worth more( yeah I said it) than those who do not. The welfare brood mares that lay up in the section 8 trailer park breeding with her brothercousins and downloading litter after litter of pointy headed offspring contribute absolutely nothing to society but expect those of us that take the risks and reap the rewards of that risk to see to their needs. They should have no say whatsoever in how tax money that is taken from the rest of us at the point of a gun should be spent.
Nor should they be aloud to vote IMHO...

The thing is, those that get welfare receive bread crumbs compared with the benefits some of our wealthiest citizens receive.
It's real simple on how these takers can get more money and be self sufficient.... Get a damn job and work for it. I've known and met numerous people on welfare completely healthy and young that could work and choose not to. So if they get crumbs it's by their own choice. You kill me BD with your bleeding heart BS. Damn it's going to be the demise of this Country!! I paid 44% in taxes this past year due to my income, and folks like you expect "Me" and others like me to pay the way for the scumbag slackers in society!! If you want to help those losers so much, why not give say 50% of your income to help them? Yeah I didn't think you wanted to either...

or... How about knowing if you need emergency surgery, we'll put your name on a list and call you when we get good and ready...?

Or if you need emergency surgery, knowing it will bankrupt you and your family. Or if you buy this medicine that you need daily you can take it or you can afford to eat that month.

Money can be re-made and I will never go hungry as I know how to fish.

In other words, your argument is potato.

And grandma and grandpa? What if they are in wheelchairs? You act like your present state will always be as it is.
What is you get wacked next month as Chevron cuts capex?
Eggs and baskets. If you plan so poorly that a layoff or medical expense would ruin your life, maybe you should think about checking out.

I have been planning to be laid off for almost a year. I have survived my companies layoffs, but unlike a lot of y'all here, I have back up plans. I can start teaching LTC and charging for it ( as opposed to what I do now and do the class for free) I can walk right back into teaching private security commissioning classes, a phone call and I could be working for a security that specializes in personal protection, and I am a NEBOSH certified safety technician. I can find employment in that field pretty easily, or I can go into safety consultation.

Plenty of people get along just fine in wheelchairs.

The bottom line is, other than me and my family, I do not have any moral obligation to so much as piss on someone if they were on fire.

Society as a whole does not deserve one cent of any of the fruit of my labor, nor are they entitled to my, or any one else's labor.

You've obviously never dealt with some of the more interesting illnesses that potentially kill you when you get older.

Then society owes you no protection either.

I have a moral obligation to help others. We all do, whether we recognize it or not.

However, I do agree gov shouldn't be thieving from you at gunpoint to redistribute your wealth in the name of charity.

BC I agree. Its just that ZW doesnt distinguish between government and society. Its that hallmark of socialists that they can't logically separate the two.
I understand the difference as I recognize from where government comes and that we have different levels of government beyond the contemporary definititions.

The form or layer government most should work on improving is self and family government.

I have never expected it to. You are ultimately responsible for your own well being.

The gists of your posts seems to be a Bit envious of people who work hard and succeed.( and I am being as nice as I can with describing the vibe your posts give off as envy) you seem to get joy from the thought of successful people failing, especially if they do not subscribe to your view of wealth redistribution.

Hardly. On the other hand I've been around the block a few times, and have no desire for the Dickensian model you espouse. Enlightened self interest says that too is an unsustainable model.
