All the other people who think it is abandoned.

I would imagine in a true SHTF situation gun stores and walmart types will be the first raided, adds are that it will be the less upstanding individuals who get there first as they will be the least worried about legal ramifications while upstanding citzens will most likely not resort to something like that unless we really think it is necessary for survival. Could be wrong as there are way to many variables to account for but in my situation there are alot of people closer than I am who will have a major advantage and I have no intentions of driving into a hornets nest.

Yeah. Like the grocery store, if you wait until SHTF to go get (loot) supplies you are SOL.

We are fortunate to own a cabin with 50 acres on it in very rural, Texas. It is well stocked with water and canned goods. Here I keep a Ruger 10/22 with maybe 7000-8000 rounds. I have rifles and pistols, but if we had to retreat to this place then this is the rifle I would want. I just don't think we could hold off for very long a attract once we are flanked no matter what other rifle or guns I was to take with me. Not that we would not try, but in reality cabin walls won't hold off 223's or anything larger. The 10/22 can provide birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc for the table. If I was to take down a pig or deer I would use my Glock 22 40 cal.
