I'm less and less happy. If forced to pick I'm a Texan first and American second.

Probably more accurate... I'm a Christian first (I try to be anyway), a husband second, a father third, Texan fourth and an American fifth. So at best American is a 5th priority for me, barring anything key I've forgotten. I'm caring less and less about being American each day as these Federal idiots trash my religion, my children's future and my state.

Priorities,.............. always priorities! Damnit! Can't we just all get along! :roflfunny:

This reminds me of something I heard a Hindu say one time (not advocating the religious position, discussing how we all have different "people" we are. To my wife, I'm a husband. To my daughter, a father. To my father, a son. To my boss, a worker. To my patients, a healer. And so on... but I still remain the same, single person at my core. Who I am is just as much defined by others and my relationship as it is with my self and my perception of myself.
Sounds like whoever said that was struggling with self identity in a collectivist mindset. Other people's perceptions do not define who you are. Their perception is only valid for themselves and they can never experience the whole person that is you.

I'd rather stand for American values without the title than keep the title and lose the greatness this nation once stood for.

It's not that Texans are traitors to America. But the Federal government that are traitors to that they have sworn to uphold and those they have sworn to protect. If America disolves, the States won't be the cause it, the Government will have allowed it.
    Plain and simple.

Thats another problem. I highly doubt the fed would let a state secede without taking its portion of the national debt with it.

If things get so bad that any states secede, it's going to be way past that point. They will no longer have the clout to make it stick.

If you think those 5,000 warheads would do anything besides collecting dust as they have been, I have a bridge to sell you.

Historically I'm right. You're not. Civil wars are typically the bloodiest conflicts nations have. Attempting to secede, thinking the US wouldn't demand you take your portion of the debt would be a political nonstarter. Therefor you'd have to try some sort of military attempt, and then the bombs come, and dissenters like the people on this forum disappear and are found in mass graves a few years later. Just ask all of Central and South America.
