Historically I'm right. You're not. Civil wars are typically the bloodiest conflicts nations have. Attempting to secede, thinking the US wouldn't demand you take your portion of the debt would be a political nonstarter. Therefor you'd have to try some sort of military attempt, and then the bombs come, and dissenters like the people on this forum disappear and are found in mass graves a few years later. Just ask all of Central and South America.

    Checked.

    No nukes used.

I would venture to say that many of those "dissenters" believed they could no longer live as they had been and where well aware that the sacrifice of their own life, for the possibility of their children living a better life, was their only avenue for change.

In a true civil war their families would likely be gone too, and anyone they knew.

Imagine how bad it would have been if the Jews had dissented. They could have been "disappeared" for it.

Luckily, most tried to stay quiet and out of trouble.

This right here is truth. They gave up their abilities to defend themselves and waited to make vital decisions until it was too late and the gears of genocide were already turning.

"Likely" is the key word. For some being enslaved/oppressed isn't an option, so you take that chance.

Waiting around for a guaranteed win in any fight is a sad way to live.

You won't be oppressed. you would be dead. if we're playing hypotheticals in the hypothetical the NSA knows where you all and they take you out very quickly, for being terrorists. Then they go get donuts.

Equating secess wanting to secede with the Jews in WWII is frankly insulting.
