I definitely agree our history should be out there. I also agree that all aspects of that history should be discussed, especially concerning the ACW. However, thats not relevant to whether these statues should be on a public Texas campus when they in no way relate to the university or Texas.

Petition against Jefferson Davis statue gaining traction at UT-Austin - San Antonio Express-News

“There is a place for them in history and that’s in our museums across the country,” he said of the postwar tributes to Confederate leaders that were common in the South "but whose appropriateness has been questioned with increasing socialist pacifism in recent decades."

The goal seems to be to remove any remnant of this history from society. Attack the pride and love many of us have for our ancestors. Completely spit on the graves of the soldiers who died in battle.

4. Rename the city of Houston, because Sam Houston killed Mexicans.
5. Tear down what remains of the Alamo.
6. Quit printing history books all together.
7. Begin printing 'present books,' containing only the feel-good stories from the old history books with some made up one's just to make everyone feel equal and empowered.
8. Allow the Supreme Court to "Re-interpret" the Constitution in it's entirety, while Ultimate Czar Obama sits in on the meeting with his .02
