I had a co-worker who bought one the first year they came into the country. I remember thinking it was apparently made out of old tin cans. It wasn't Yugo-bad but it was bad. Her little sedan eventually threw a piston out the side of the block.

But the Koreans did just like the Japanese had done many years before. They learned and incrementally improved. Having had so many years practice, they apparently now make very good cars.

I know that if I were in the market for a luxury car, I wouldn't just look at Lexus. I'd look at Genesis, too.
My wife's sister has a Hundai Sante Fe that is pretty nice if you wanted to scale up.We used it for one of my doctor's appointments in Dallas, and I was impressed with the comfort and ride on the way there.

lol I remember on my 82 Luv, the voltage regulator died, and for those that don't know it was external and no one carried that part. So I took the alternator bracket off, milled a flat on it to take current chevy alternators, tapped a new hole and changed the plug. Worked like a champ.

Trucks from the 70s and 80s are so roomy under the hood you can set up a comfy chair in there to sit on while you work on them. Even with a big V8 there's plenty of room to reach in and use any tool you need.
Years ago, when I worked at a Chevrolet dealership, did a warranty replacement of the engine in a 1986 Chevy 1/2 ton PU. We did the warranty because the owner had used a GM crate engine as replacement a few years prior.

We ordered a new crate engine and I had the engine R&R and running in just a little over four hours later.

Word of warning on the Kia's and Hyundai. You can not get an air or oil filter for them anywhere. You HAVE to go to the dealer for maintenance. Things may change, but as of now, owners are stuck

I had problem finding locally unavailable filters, in stock for a saturn several years ago. Got a better price and quick delivery.
