Here's one that sounds like a big fat fish tail, but nonetheless it is true. I once killed a 500lb hog with a .380 sidearm. I was hanging from a low branch, he walked directly beneath me and I popped him right in the brain stem area. He dropped immediately, paralyzed, and screaming. I jumped from my limb and shot him again directly in the eye and killed him. BOTH of these shots were at point blank range, no further than a foot, muzzle to hog. It can be done if you know how to hunt, and aren't afraid of your quarry. This was a nuisance hog that needed to be removed, and had killed a couple of the land owners dogs. I had pork chops that were bigger than most T bone steaks! A little gamey, but absolutely delicious on the BBQ. I'm not afraid to hog hunt with ANY centerfire rifle cartridge. I have killed quite a few others with 55gr 5.56 from an AR15, and SU-16 also.
