Actually the number of mods on this site is very small compared to other sites this size. 7 Staff members on a site with over 16,000 members is a pretty small management team.

The internet is ripe with pissing contests. I see them on every forum I'm a member of. People can stir up sh*t with immunity when hiding behind an internet connection and a keyboard. It makes them feel like a badass.

Most are far from being so brave in person.

    This times 10.

And I agree for the amount of members, volume of traffic, and nature of the subject matter we discuss we probably have too few of mods. I can barely keep up with spam bots and classifieds alone.

A site without mods would spiral into chaos in short order... much like a city with no police force (although we have members who think police should be eliminated as well)

Haha I am dying to know even 1 example of what you are referring. Like I said, I can barely keep track of deleting spam bots and monitor classified ads. If you're not kissing anyone's ass and just attacking the 7 people who volunteer here, then say what's really on your mind. We had to do away with politics for a while for the same reason, no time to deal with the people who wanted to turn every thread into a pissing match/personal attacks. So... I am dying to know... Which one of us has so much free time on our hands that we walk around policing your posts? Read our COC, it's one of the most lax I've seen on any Internet forum. Other than porn, racism, radically off topic posts, and personal attacks I'm not sure what's being enforced to have u so upset.

It was much better before you became a mod. We had PROFESSIONAL mods who didnt go aroun4 saying I'm a mod, I'm a mod. Your mamma must be proud of your mod title.

I think he's right! The vast fortune that you make for being a Mod has surely gone to your head...........snicker.

Personally, I think this is a good site. I am very new to the whole "forum" thing as I joined here back in January of this year. I don't have a huge thread count and I still have no idea what all of the different comment related abbreviations/acronyms mean (IBTL..and so on).
I like this forum because it's a "Texas thing" and, in my opinion, every other State and/or Country is, well...irrelevant.
I love firearms almost as much as my State and my Country so that makes this the place for me.
I have checked out other forums and, from my admittedly limited knowledge of the whole forum thing, there seems to be more valid input from more members on given topics here.
I have read on other forums where it seems the same handful of folks go into attack mode rather quickly if somebody asks a question that may have been covered a year or so back or if somebody has a different opinion of any certain firearm manufacturer. There are a lot of folks with opinions I do not share (I had a patient that swore Jimmy Carter was one of the best Presidents we have ever had..).
I find it more productive to attempt to gain some understanding of how they came to their conclusion rather than get into some verbal or, in our case, written pissing match/big d:(k contest.
If somebody has a different opinion than me, so be it. I try not to convey my opinion in a disrespectful or belittling manner but I have stated my opinion in an incomplete manner which, deservedly so, drew fire. My bad for not being detailed enough in my opinion. I chose to let it go rather than have some lengthly thread which diverted from the OP's topic.
Now for the Rodney King moment......"Can't we all just get along......;)

it's a shame not ALL the mods here on TGT follow that same different set of rules... some of them could learn a few things about the humility that comes with the title. i guess not everyone got the message.

    How 'bout them Texans?!?

I respect M. Sage a lot. He is one of my favorite members on this site. Being a mod is a thankless job. I learned a long time ago u can't make everyone happy, and for some reason that's even more true online. So I say this with all sincerity and love in my heart, I could give 2 shits what any anonymous keyboard warriors have to say online. I've met some of these same folks in person and all they want to do is shake my hand. I donate my time, resources, and legal services to folks on this site on a daily basis. I know who my friends are.
