My Frankfort arsenal tumbler dies a pretty decent job with minimal noise. I've left it going in the garage for a couple days once and didn't hear it in my room on the other side of the wall.

Gonna stop and pickup some hornady 6.5 bthp match bullets today. Need to work on seating depth for the Japanese rifle. Turns out someone sent me a seating depth gauge tool and I forgot all about it.... I'm sure I owe you a case or two of beer by now...

Friends Jim and Matt over at the Gun shop got their RCBS Rock Chucker kit in and yesterday, I gave them a table with folding legs to mount it on. They don't have dies or anything yet.

Today, I'll bundle up all the stuff to load .300 Blackout and bring it over there to give them a taste of success! The .300 Blackout is the easiest cartridge that I've ever reloaded so we'll give the guys a chance to succeed. Once we build a fire in them........they're gonna love it.

300 Blackout is the 44mag of the rifle world. Lots of different loads and a lot of fun to experiment with.

Yesterday I pumped out my first rounds on the Dillon 650. It was great! Made it through about 300 rounds in no time.

That's a fact. My head was swimming looking through the loading manuals. I spent more time thinking about what round I wanted to shoot than any in a very long time. No can meant I narrowed my loads to supersonic, which helped considerably.

I poisoned my BIL recently. I let him shoot my 300 BO and he didn't want to stop. Now I need to load some more rounds for it.

A lot of people poo-poo on the 300 Blackout but it is ridiculously versatile. It wouldn't say it excels at much but it does a lot of things well.

I love mine. It's the one gun that goes with me every single time at the lease. I've killed a boatload of hogs, deer, turkey and coyotes with it.

Did some reorganizing of the work room this eve. Wife got a desk from work for her stuff so I got my 8' work bench back and added it to my 6'. Had to cut about 5" off the legs because it was originally built to stand at. First pic is after moving things around. Second pic is what it looked like before. Opened up enough room to get my l prep stuff, casting pot and powder press off my reloading bench! Also opened up plenty of room for cleaning/working on rifles!

Also put 56 6.5x284 brass in the tumbler (far right in the pic).

Picked up what i hope will be the final piece of furniture friday evening. Thick butcher block topped table with metal legs (adjustable height) from a local opyical place that is closing down. For $75, I couldnt pass it up! Quick sanding and a recoat of poly and it'll be good to go. If I can find it, i might just cover it with felt like a gun mat!

I have a little project Savage 10 in 223 (will get around to a write up soon). First round of load development awarded me this 5 shot group at 100 yards.

I may try to tighten it up a bit later but because of a scheduled long range shoot I went ahead and loaded up 100 more just like that.

Damn that's good! Is the barrel stock, or is it a custom one?

Factory 24" heavy barrel. Used Pre-Accutrigger gun (so at least 10 years old) of unknown history.

I scrubbed the barrel and used Copper Cutter on it, which I seldom do, to start with a clean slate. Fired 20 fouling shots of plinking ammo and jumped right into my load development ammo.

This group was about 100 shots in with just pulling a bore snake dipped in Hoppe's #9 every 20 rounds or so.

This is why I am such a big Savage fan. I do plan on a little write up of the few minor modifications I made to the rifle but most of it is still factory.

Today I made a bunch of empty brass while testing 2 different powder coat loads.

One load I was testing was a powder coat over 4.2gr 231 using an S&B small rifle primers. Surprisingly, out of about 60 rounds fired I had a little over ¼ that did not fire on the first strike. In fact, some went for 3 and 4 strikes before detonating. I was shocked how poorly they performed.

The second batch was the same bullet under a smaller load of 4.0gr of 231 using CCI SP primers. They were very easy on the hands and I think it's my new plinking load. 75 rounds in 3 inches is good enough for me.

The guy at Cabela's told me they would work. Got home and did some research and figured I'd give them a try. Glad I didn't commit and load the whole 1000.

To be fair, the box says rifle, pistol, and revolver primers. That's why he told.me they would work.

I think S&B's primer packaging is somewhat generic. The sticker is what to go with.

Rifle primers are generally made with a little thicker cup than pistol primers. That is causing your issue.

I had a bad run of CCI large rifle primers the other day. Loaded 50 rounds and had 3 of the 50 that were complete duds even after 3 or 4 strikes. The other 47 fired perfectly. 2 duds and one fired.
