Just wrapping up a ridiculously large brass sort. Bought some x1 223 brass a few weeks ago and just now sorted by headstamp. At the time I bought it, it sounded good but realistically I just gave myself more work to do.

It's going to be a good weekend.

I worked 30 hours on call last weekend. 13 hour shift today. I'm tired........ But I came home to my 2k 9mm projectiles in the mailbox, and a box from midway with my 40s&w dies and a few miscellaneous items.

Finally finished assembling and dialing in my Hornady Ammo Plant. Made 100 rounds of 9mm. Took it nice and slow. Need to go to the range with them to make sure all the rounds test good before I make more, since this is my first time reloading.

    Congratulations on the press.
And you thought firearms were expensive .
Seriously, good luck at the range.

Going through an ammo can full of once fired brass is a bit tedious but it’s fun to find an oddball round here and there or their

You must me one of those range vultures.

Edit- don't mean that as an insult. I remember going to the range and there was brass everywhere. I'd sweep up and shovel mine and others brass into buckets.
The. I started collecting my brass. Next thing you know, there are zero casings left behind by anyone.

Thanks for the nice visual. Actually it’s all from a local gun stores test firing trap. Every so often they empty it and will sell it for next to nothing. Only down side is you can get a lot of brass you won’t use like .22cal and stuff you don’t have a gun for.

Loaded about 40 rounds of 300blk. Finally got to use my Franklin arsenal scale, it’s the portable one. I like it. It seems to hold calibration just fine for me

Went through a little bit of 308 brass and sorted out 2 headstamps to do some test loads. Primed 50 and made a couple dummy rounds to setup my seating die. Going to load up a few loads with a couple different powders.

I just gave away a full can of varget to a guy on here but I hear it's the bees knees for 308. Any thoughts? I also have a butt load of wc844 and some h4895.

the .44 S&W is the parent cartridge of the .44 magnum ( also known as .44 special, which was derived from the old .44 Russian cartridge)

the .257 Roberts, a great medium game cartridge, started off as a wildcat cartridge many years ago and the ammo companies standardized it as factory cartridge, Remington, Winchester & Ruger have all offered rifles in this great cartridge, it was derived by necking down the 7x57 (7mm Mauser) case down to .25 caliber

the 38 s&w is an old black powder cartridge that began life back in the late 1800's and continued to be sold even after loads were changed to modern smokeless powders, it is not interchangeable with the .38 special as case dimensions are not the same and it shoots a .361" bullet rather than 357" diameter that the .38 special utilizes. ammo is still sold today in limited offerings and not even close to being popular, about the only sales are those that inherited an old revolver and want to shoot it, no revolvers have been chambered in this cartridge in decades

the .22-250 also began life as a wildcat by necking the .250 savage case down to .22 cal.
Remington standardized it as a factory offering years ago, it is probably the most common varmint caliber in use today
almost all firearms companies offer a bolt action rifle in .22-250 Rem.

i am not familiar with the following cartridges:
    7.65
    5.7x28
    7.5

5.7 is a very small round developed for the FN Five-seveN pistol and the p90 smg. I've seen a few ARs in this round but unreliable from what I've heard.

The 7.65 is for an Argentinian mauser.

The 7.5 is either a 7.5x54 (french) or a 7.5x55 (swiss). The 7.5 Swiss is a pretty amazing round. Never fired a 7.5french though.

I learned something new today, I just made the assumption that the 5.7 was a foreign
military round along with the others, as I have never really followed foreign military calibers outside of the common 9mm luger, 7.62x39 Russian and the 7mm & 8mm Mausers)
to many to keep up with and typically lack of reliable ammo availability

I actually only decided to buy an AK because ammo used to be so cheap, I would buy it in cases for pennies a round up until they became extremely popular and then topped of by the latest surge in demand in ammo

my 7mm Mauser is a Ruger 77 bolt action and the 8mm Mauser is a Remington 700, I actually just purchased 5 boxes of Remington soft point ammo for the 8mm on line last week for $18.00 a box, found the deal on ammo seek, don't really care for the bullet Remington chose but that was a bargain for 8mm ammo and I get 100 rounds of boxer primer brass after I shoot it

    You bought ammo ?!?!? EW!!!

Just kidding ya. I just bought a box of 7.63x25 (30mauser) for a friend's pistol he gave me to check out for him... $54 out the door for a box of 50... Ouch!

I started a collection years ago when a friend brought over a rifle he inherited and didn't know what it was (scope base blocking identifying info and screw heads stripped out). We tried a bunch of different rounds I had on hand to gauge the bore size and chamber size. We wound up having to chamber cast it.Turned out to be an Arisaka t38, reamed out to 6.5x257roberts. this started my love of the jap rifles and my cartridge collection.

I haven't organized the. Or counted them in years but I'm sure I've got a little over 200 different cartridges now.

if we had the internet in my younger days, where you could research things much easier, I probably would increased my interest (while decreasing my pocket book), but do to lack of readily available information and top many other interests, I just never really got there, but I have always wanted one of the very few Colt Combat Commanders or Browning Hi-Powers that were offered in .30 Luger
they are pretty rare and way to pricey though
