Ran them today over 225gr of H50 at 2550fps with no signs of pressure. Looks like accuracy was ok. 1.28" at 300 yards for 3 rounds. I pulled the 4th and couldn't chamber the 5th cause I was a dumbass and didn't seat the primer all the way.

SD was much lower than the 215gr charge. Need to do more testing.

Color my pencils! 225gr?!? That's 10 AK rounds I load. Remind me to go smaller and not bigger

What do you mean the SD was lower?

Standard deviation is kind of like the average difference in velocity above or below the average velocity. It gives less weight to a single round that falls far outside a large data group unlike extreme spread, which is the difference between the fastest and slowest round.

The 215gr loads had a standard deviation of ~35fps meaning the majority of rounds would be within 35fps of the average velocity. The 225gr loads had a standard deviation of 15fps.

There is a formula for it but I can't remember it exactly.

Generally a lower SD and extreme spread mean a more accurate round.

I know of a few guys that use that info more than actual group size to find an accurate load for their rifle.

Definitely not today, but finally finished prepping my .223 brass. All cleaned, sized, swaged, and trimmed. 2900 pieces of brass and 20 nickle plated with an extra helping of OCD organizing.

Polishing brass from the range yesterday. After yesterday I have come to the realization that I need a brass catcher for the AK.

Looked at my brass pile and deciding if I want to do something different. Right now I have a 6" X 10" X 16" plastic box that is stuffed to the brim. Space is an issue.

Found 400 Federal Small Magnum Pistol primers locally so I could work up some 357 magnum loads for a lever action Marlin, now have 100 rounds at 10 rounds per step of .2 grains starting at 10.2 with 158 grn XTP's for woking on hogs with. We'll see which it like the best.
