What would be considered a good price for 22LR these days? I didn't realize 22 would be in short supply until it was too late. I keep my eyes open when I'm at anyplace that sells ammo, and I occasionally browse online, but don't want to stock up with overpriced stuff. I understand a shortage can cause the price to rise, but I'm having trouble finding a brick for less than 3 or 4 times what I remember paying for it.

I'm not expecting 3¢ a round, but what is reasonable now? 6¢? 10¢? 15¢? What is everyone paying if you're lucky enough to find any?

I wouldn't pay more than $20/550rd brick. So, $.036/rd ... I might be willing to go $.04/rd ~ $22/550rd brick. Wouldn't go more than that though, IMO. It's .22 after all. I'm never in THAT desperate of a need of .22.

Out of curiosity, when is the last time you picked some up at that price? I think 22 comes in very handy for skunks, possums, and all sorts of other little critters we have. I just had to stop plinking with it when I opened my last brick.

Seeing as how I haven't seen hardly any .22, it's been a while. And I'm not saying that .22 isn't useful, I'm just saying it's ridiculous to pay a whole lot for it. IF I had a dire need for it (like pest removal), I'd buy the smallest quantity at the lowest price. Otherwise, like you said, stop plinking with it until you can find cost effective replacement.

    Helotes!
I picked up a 325 round brick of Federal Target at the gun show last weekend for $40. About a week earlier I grabbed a brick of 500 rounds of Centurion .22LR from the Gun Shack in Helotes for $45. I know that seems expensive, but I've seen a lot worse and since I can afford those prices, I'd rather have at least some ammo and be able to shoot than not have any to shoot at all...

Good luck finding the stuff, much less a great deal on it these days...

    Cheers! M2

When i found a guy selling bricks (525) for $50 i jumped on it. Still less than what I see most private sellers going for.

$9.99 for the 225rd boxes and $19.99 for the 550s at Wamart. Bought 9 boxes of 225 and 3 boxes of 550 over the last couple weeks.

The local WalMart had Winchester 333rd bulk packs for $9.97 this past Friday. I was there about 7:30 (on the way home from work) and was surprised to see they have a fair amount of ammo, including 9mm. No .223 though.

I bought three 100 round boxes of Federal 9mm for 21.37/box.

I hadn't bought a brick of .22's since last summer. Last weekend, I lucked into a brick of Federal's (525) for $28.11, tax included. I'm ok with paying .05 cents a round. If you can find it for a better price...........good for you.

before i moved out here from vegas, a local retailer was selling 550 round brick for.......... $125/ea. And he was selling them. 22 is nowhere to be found out there.

i bought my last stocks of it in late january for $0.4/shot for 5000 rounds.

Bought 2 50rd boxes of thunderbolt last night at basspro in grapevine, 2.39 a piece and they had probably 200 boxes behind the counter on a cart.

I'm paying up to $0.10/round when you factor in shipping online. Haven't had any luck at wally worlds or academy lately.

    Oh Gawd...

I ran across a 500 round brick the other day that I have had, evidently for a long time. The price tag on it was $1.49.

No, I got there around 8:30 after I dropped the kids off at school and the wife off at work. They had about 20 boxes when I got there.
