    Thank you for your service.
I'm not sure how much combat in his 25 years in the Minnesota National Guard he'd face.

He deployed once. To Italy. When his unit was tapped to go to Iraq, he decided that was when his retirement would start. As a result, (and also as a result of never getting around to the required training), he was stripped of his promotion to Command Sergeant Major. And yet he still claimed to be a CSM with combat experience.

Funny, I was promoted while I was on a 30 day terminal leave. That's the military. Never touched a gun the entire time I was in the service (except for my personal guns).

Speaking of stolen valor, why are these idiots in a hospital bed holding two babies they bought?

I don't have anything to say about anyone's choice of sex life or life partner. However, this picture makes me want to gag. It is infuriating that those two slimeballs act like they've given birth and have to stay in bed. I can't imagine anything that is more deceitful or butt-licking lowlife.

This is a weak argument. I think he is a jerk but he served 25 years and retired. No combat. I served during Nam and saw no combat. My buddy (we both went in at the same time) was sent to Thailand. Just the way it was. Neither of us could change our status. If I served 25 years I would retire too.
Not at ALL. He clearly said the he DID SEE COMBAT, see his gun control video clip on him "carry a weapon of war into war". He SAW no War. Closest he got was a vacation to Italy. Claimed a rank that was later reduced when he "retired" rather than deploying to ACTUAL COMBAT, etc., etc., etc.. He endorsed a book that referred to HIM as an IRAQ AND AFGANISTAN vet. Lots of really cool pictures of him wearing a SPECIAL FORCES logo hat, when he NEVER SNIFFED SF training. He's a LIAR and a FRAUD. Heck, he's like the new Biden making up crap about himself. More will come out, and OF COURSE be suppressed by the regime. Just sayin'....

Pretry sure Walz wasn’t demoted; he was either breveted or acting CSM in the perm rank of E-8. He retired in his perm rank of E-8, which is standard in those situations.

Yes, there’s a reason the army velcros on rank. Yes, the Guard has weird rules. But this isn’t too strange.

Nor is retiring when eligible before a unit is deployed. Happens on the active duty side as well, and usually responded to by a stop-loss by the Army. Had a SF bud at 25 ID who tried but still spent 18 months in Iraq.

That said, I'd rather spend time in Iraq than Michigan!

    I applaud his service....but.........................

He is not honest and trusty worthy........too many of his fellow Vets are calling him out on his BS to be ignored.......

McCain served Honorably too.....but was a total POS otherwise............

I wouldn’t go so far as to use the word “honorably”. I saw way too many people serve 4-20+ years that were self serving and not worthy of being called “honorable”. Maybe some of it, but where you end up and how you get there matter.

To be honest, he wasn't even promoted. I doubt he met an E-9 board without having the SGM Academy completed. Even in the TXSG, we won't push a packet up unless the servicemember has met all the requirements. Most likely he was serving in that position and was allowed to wear CSM rank despite not actually being a CSM!

Oddly, all I could find via Google-fu was mention of officer brevet promotions. Nothing for enlisted. One comment stated "Brevet promotions were always restricted to officers." A Texas Military Department reg (JTFR 600-6) allows them only for E-8s (SMSgt/MSG/1SG) to E-9 (CMSgt/SGM/CSM) and must be submitted by a MAJCOM Command Chief Master Sergeant or a Command Sergeant Major (which can exist down to a battalion level...

The National Guard Bureau states soldiers only need to complete Term 1 Phase 1 of SGM-A to pin on, based on this 07JUN2024 memo...

Army National Guard (ARNG) Implementation Guidance for Suspension ofTemporary Promotions and Select/Train/Educate/Promote (STEP) Policy and the Reduction of the On-Line Training (PPOM 24-014

"Temporary promotion to Sergeant Major remains unchanged. Soldiers enrolled in the non-resident Sergeant Major Academy (SGM-A) must complete Term 1 Phase 1 as a pin-on requirement to the rank of SGM. States are authorized to approve temporary promotion to SGM if the Soldier has a confirmed reservation in ATRRS, is currently enrolled in the Sergeants Major Course (SMC), or enrolled in the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy for Special Operation Soldiers (JSOFSEA). Soldiers will be reduced (without board action) if they are no longer making satisfactory progress (as determined by the SGM-A Commandant). Soldiers must be otherwise fully qualified, to include the availability of a control grade for AGR Soldiers."

Of course, this is a recent development...

Mike, i like you. That’s a whole lot of words to say last decade the dude filled a spot on a roster.

    You’re also not acknowledging he’s a socialist.

Thanks for that. It confirms this:

"Two retired Army Command Sergeant Majors, Thomas Behrends and Paul Herr, wrote in a letter published November 2, 2018, in the West Central Tribune, a local news outlet, that Walz on September 17, 2004, was “conditionally promoted” to Command Sergeant Major but then later failed to meet the conditions of the promotion, which they said was later nullified.

“On September 17th, 2004 he was conditionally promoted to Command Sergeant Major. The conditions had been outlined to him when he was counseled and he signed the Statement of Agreement and Certification. If the conditions are not met, the promotion is null and void, like it never happened,” they wrote.

They then said that after his unit was issued orders to deploy to Iraq, he then quit. "

IMO, it doesn't matter that he did what did; it matters a lot that he's lied about it for years.

I wonder if FKH even knew about all this before he was picked. Her website originally had his CSM ranking on it, and then quietly scrubbed it; and in her very next rally speech she yelled the words 'Sargent Major', making sure everyone heard her Not say 'Command', when describing him. Pffft.
