I desire it. I like magnified two eyes open shooting and I want to keep my rear iron site in place.
I’ve always heard that fixed-power ‘scopes are more rugged & reliable.
Is that still a significant issue ?

Always wanted to get that and do a SBR with the HK collapsible stock. A short 308 is cool.16"? Get on my level. 8" breaths fire!

I don’t have any data to back this up, but it’s the internet so I can’t be wrong…A fixed power scope would sensibly be more reliable as there are no moving parts.I’ve always heard that fixed-power ‘scopes are more rugged & reliable.

I like the long eye relief with both eyes open. I don’t shoot std eye relief scopes that way. I don’t think they’re any faster. As long as I can see the target- dawn/dusk is immaterial to me. Std or Long eye relief- I’m not owning a scope that will give me 2% more light. It’s like having a car that will go 150mph top speed and one that will go 190.It's not like you can't shoot both eyes open perfectly fine with any scope.
Personally, optical quality is a huge reason to have a scope, and scout scopes are always worse than a conventional optic, especially in less favorable light conditions.
And them being "fast" is a placebo.
