In all seriousness, let us know how the new mattress works out!

I'm not far behind you needing to buy a new one.
I’ll post an update a few months in. The sales guy was either really good and knows his stuff, or I’m a sucker. Delivery is in a couple of weeks so I guess we’ll find out at that time.

I have had 4 Tempurpedic mattresses, and not one lasted more than 2 years. At $4k a pop I could not afford to own one. The sleep was incredible, but the cost was unsustainable. The warranty was 10 years but only applied if the mattress showed more than an inch of sag. They never did, they just lost support.

I now own a Purple 3 and it is as good or better, less expensive, and on year 3 of use. A really excellent design. We have a king on a motion base and it works perfectly.

We bought a Casper for the lake house. It was far too firm for us. I wish I would have bought another Purple, but the Casper was 1/3 the price and not used as much.

    Good luck whatever you buy.

I am heavier than the average person, YMMV.

Another vote for sleep number. Get a new topper every few years, but otherwise it's completely adjustable. Back hurts, air it down real low and then hit the up button so it starts to firm up. Stop after it feels good and you're set for the night. Change it again tomorrow if you need to. Mine is about 15 years old.

My last 2 mattresses I've paid right about 1k each and they lasted about 6 years. 3 years ago we got a mattress from Ikea for $500 and it is the best mattress we've ever had.

We really like these, we have a few LOL. Only about $400 for King

Memory foam isn’t good for infants so we had to get a box spring for a while.
But we’ll go right back to memory foam when we’re able.

There’s zero chance I’m spending thousands for a bed.
My sister paid $6k for her fancy bed…lmao it’s no more comfortable than what we have.

We had a memory foam, but it didn’t work out. It was hot and I don’t think it ever broke in. Initially it felt fine but we always had pain at the pressure points in the morning. Hips for me, shoulders and hip on wife. Sold to wife’s coworker for $100 and she loves it. Go figure...

Texas Mattress Makers was on Tilman Fertitta's show several years back. The one he stars in himself. The company was supposed to make some high end mattresses for Fertitta's hotels/casinos

Will be following. Just started having back problems with our mattress. Can’t complain—it was a mid level Denver Mattress company bought in 2006. Got my monies worth out of it.

    Thanks, Grumps21.
We're moving to Richmond and we'll be getting a new bed in the move. TMM has been on the list, but furniture will be from Gallery. TMM and Gallery have stores in and around Katy/Richmond...very convenient.
Had to order it. Will be here next week. Did transact the deal at the Katy store since they did have the test beds there

I haven't priced but the next furniture I buy will be from Gallery.
All that Jim Mcinvale does for the good outweighs his prices,
There's a guy who is grateful for his success. He hit rock bottom in his business and financials not long after he started and built the business back, one stupid commercial after another. And by treating people right. I remember back when his showroom grew by buying the houses next door, connecting to them, and putting out more furniture in the new space. He personally helped my mom finance some furniture and was fair and forthcoming about everything.

In my personal experience, that man has a solid reputation and it's well-deserved.

The ENTIRE mattress retail business in an ongoing scam. Manufacturers don't use standard model names, so it is impossible to compare.

The two reasonable ways to get a decent mattress at a decent price today are:

!) Get someone in the hotel industry to get you one when they order; they "buy direct".

    2) Go to Sam's Club, read the tags, close your eyes, and guess.

All attempts to get either honest data or a really decent price at any mattress store or furniture place will be thwarted by the "system" !

That's why there's a whole genre of YouTubers who do mattress testing. I went down that rabbit hole once and I'm surprised I found my way back out again.

I like the "memory foam" mattresses, because they isolate movement - I'm up and down and a restless sleeper - the memory foam isolates my movement from my girlfriend on the other side of the bed. We've had two "knock off" memory foam mattresses and they seem to last about 7-8 years, at best. I've been looking at the Sleep Number mattresses, and they seem to be decent, too. Once ya leave a lower-priced spring mattress, the price goes up to the $2,000+ neighborhood pretty quickly.
