I’m going out to a few LGSs tomorrow to begin my search

I’m brand agnostic - will consider anything except Turkish made

Weigh-in if you have a suggestion.

I’ve had a high-end 1911 (Ed Brown) and several good ones (Colt, Ruger, Bul Armory, Springfield and Dan Wesson) in various calibers and barrel lengths… but I now want a commander size .45

    Requirements and uses

    - Barrel length 4.25

    - Single stack (no 2011/staccato stuff)

    - Caliber .45

    - exclusively for range use (I doubt I’ll ever carry it)

    - has to have a decent-to-good trigger (there’s no one around here to do a trigger job and I don’t want to try)

    - extended beaver tail

    - no threaded barrel

    Preferences, but not mandatory

    - optics ready

    - not ambi

    - not blued (maybe a nice stainless or some other unique finish)

    Well… that didn’t take long

This Bul Armory may fit the bill

Dan Wesson has some that will fit most of your criteria. There duty treat finish is pretty indestructible. They also have SS finish available on some models.
Yep… just sold my full size A2 with that finish…

    Was an awesome firearm

Will look again at their offerings… now owned by CZ

It been owned by CZ for about 20 years. Their Commander Bobtail is a nice SS one and the VBOB is even better.

You might check Fusion, it's owned by Bob Serva who owned DW before CZ. They can probably get you optics ready...but you may have to decide on the optics first to insure compatability.

this SA Ronin Operator could also work

    Price is $818

But I’d rather have a pound lighter trigger pull (this one is about 4lb 8oz)

The Bul Armory above in post #3 has a 3.0-3.8 lb trigger

Guncrafter No Name CCO is outstanding. Guncrafter has the best craftsmanship I have ever seen in a pistol. Superb fit and finish. Great people as well.

    Not cheap, though.
